Sometimes our mistakes are really obvious to other people.

Around the corner from this vacant block is Ray. Ray has taken up residence and is operating a small business in the backyard of an abandoned house. Ray lost his job at the flea market and the house he was living in was burned. So, in an enterprising manner he set up home and shop in a house left vacant. He seized an opportunity that is all too available today in our once mighty industrial heartland. Ray's circumstances offer a glimmer of hope for the optimist amongst us; for others it is but another sign of what seems to be an unstoppable vicious circle destroying the city.

The other day one of the Detroit papers printed an article about the upcoming census and how important the count is to the city. Critical tax dollars and political clout hang in the balance. The upside number pegs the city coming in at around 900,000, the whisper number says only 700,000 call the Motor City home. No matter which number you choose roughly 1 million Detroiters are now missing. No mugs on milk cartons or breaking news with a description and last known whereabouts because we know where these missing persons are- the suburbs, Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago...in the words of Johnny Cash, 'everywhere man'. Everywhere, that is, except home. People are missing, businesses are missing, jobs are missing and worst of all our spirit and swagger is missing. Ray, and the many folks like him, despite their toughness, are a symptom not a cure. The city cannot be rebuilt on the backs of people who excel at surviving in desperate condition. The city needs people with a thriving attitude, not a surviving attitude.

To me, this is the best season to visit Provence….Unfortunately, I can’t go there this year…But, every night, when I lay down on my bed, I smell it thanks to the Lavender Pillow that I’ve got from one of the smallest villages in Provence…. To the memory of my lovely Provence, I initiated a new photo series: Missing Provence. Within that project, every day I will share a photo that I took from my previous trips….to send my regards and love there…to nice people embellishing everything, to lavender soul and to its magic… Here is the 5th one… I miss you Provence… BeNowMeHere, Provence, France, 2015 via 500px bit.ly/29ofZm6

Reales Alcázares de Sevilla (Royal Alcazars of Seville) is a royal palace in Seville, Spain, originally a Moorish fort. The name, meaning "The Courtyard of the Maidens", refers to the legend that the Moors demanded 100 virgins every year as tribute from Christian kingdoms in Iberia. The story of the tribute was used as a myth to bolster the Reconquista movement.

The palace is one of the best remaining examples of mudéjar architecture. The upper levels of the Alcázar are still used by the royal family as the official Seville residence and are administered by the Patrimonio Nacional. (Wikipedia)

campaign for missing people, random fax numbers were selected and the missing peoples information was faxed to the 100 random fax numbers.

the fax paper creates the image / text using heat and not ink, after several weeks in natural day light the image / text degenorates / drasticly fades / goes missing...

Fue un día nuboso y apenas se distinguía la línea del horizonte. Estos jóvenes inmigrantes, posiblemente llegados en pateras, jugándose la vida, descansaban en su incierto futuro.

We really had a wonderful relaxing week in the moutains. We loved our little chalet and there were no cars, no streets, no neighbors, just cows, birds and pure nature around us.

Everytime I think of you I always catch my breath

and I'm still standing here and you're miles away

and I'm wondering why you left

and there's a storm that's raging through my frozen heart tonight...

"Missing You!" was a number one-hit by John Waite in 1984, covered by Tina Turner in 1996.

Guess, who filmed the video of this song for Tina Turner? Yes, Peter Awesome Lindbergh :)

Check it out, he has a very unique way holding his camera.

Sometimes, I wanna runaway

Sometimes, ....

One of my pictures taken by the end of last winter during a moody afternoon of fast changing weather. I opted for increased contrast and darkening to express the mood of the place as I remember it.
