One of the most photographed waterfalls in iceland (but there are many), and normally often from the other side. This is easy to understand because here it hardly is possible to keep your lens dry (which I didn't succeed), and even more difficult now because there was a strong wind.

I joined Chris Dodds and some other great photographers at the Pond at Elephant Head to shoot some bats this past September. It's quite an experience. Despite technical difficulties that seemed to plague me, I still came away with some pictures I'm proud of. This bat was captured by setting your camera to take a picture every 10 seconds. A beam is set up across a small (read small "very" small") pond which triggers the flash as a bat crosses the beam. You end up with a lot of black images and some wonderful keepers. I'll post an example of the other set up which uses a flower the bats love and triggers for both camera and flash.
Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) in recognition of World Giraffe Day 2020. This annual event celebrates the tallest animal in the world on the longest (or shortest) day of the year. The day highlights the plight of giraffes who are sufferning a silent extinction. Their populations have dramatically dropped because of habitat loss, poaching, and civil unrest and these iconic African animals have now been reclassified from least concern to vulnerable to extinction.
Conservation Status: Vulnerable
Podere Belvedere/Val d'Orcia in Springtime.
"Belvedere" means "a house with a good view", maybe the most photographed house in Italy.

Facade of one of the ancient buildings in the Schnoor quarter. This particular building dates to 1631.
The inscription on the lintel reads: "AN GOTTES SEGEN IS ALES GELEGEN 1631" (roughly: "All depends on God's blessing")
The Schnoor quarter is the oldest documented quarter of Bremen and it has largely preserved its medieval character.
First mentioned in the 13th century. The two oldest remaining buildings are from 1401 and 1402 respectively. Some buildings are just remaining facades or have been relocated from other locations.

The Isola San Giorgio Maggiore has always intrigued me. It is definitely one of the iconic sights to see in Venice. The island has been occupied since 829 and the church, with its bell tower, was built in 1566. This was taken one morning as the sun began to rise over the beautiful historic city!!
I continue to be busy trying to lend support to a Presidential candidate here in the USA and getting ready for a new trip to India. Southern India will be my destination this time. I miss my daily contact with every one, but probably won't be back on schedule until sometime in March! I continue to appreciate your support and encouragement!!!
Dettifoss is a waterfall in Vatnajökull National Park in Northeast Iceland, and is reputed to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe.
Unfortuantely, because of the weather on the day, it was not accessible, and so we had to settle with this position: The nearest we could get...
Detti is definitely on the list again for our next visit!

So while I was cleaning up after our Easter ham dinner I dumped the leftover juice out by our rock wall. It seemed we forgot to invite our new neighborhood fox to dinner who couldn't resist the heavenly ham aroma and came by to investigate. I got my camera and when we piled out the front door she moved away but the smell was overwhelming and she came back for a few shots. She licked the rock a bit and then off she went, checking out the neighbors chicken coop as she headed to the woods. This is why it's best to stay in the coop area and not venture out into the unprotected yard if you happen to be a chicken. Still on the lookout for the kits.

"Solo se riusciremo a guardare l'universo come un tutt'uno in cui ogni parte riflette la totalità e in cui la grande bellezza sta nella diversità cominceremo a capire chi siamo e dove stiamo."
Tiziano Terzani
I think we started accepting the situation around here by degrees, imperceptibly. The Salt Lake Valley and more than a million people were buried beneath the layer of pollution pictured above just over two days ago. It only took four or five days for it to accumulate to that level, one at which I couldn't see through standing above it virtually anywhere except where mountain ranges poked out like islands in the distance. At least our mountains here are still much easier on the lungs.
