Happy mid-Winter Solstice to all!!!!

The unchanging exterior of Woodchester Mansion (nr. Stroud), a 19th Century Victorian Gothic Masterpiece mysteriously abandoned mid-construction in 1873. Hidden in a secluded Cotswold valley, it is untouched by time and the modern world. This Grade 1 Listed Building has been saved from dereliction, but will never be completed. The carvings in Woodchester Mansion are among the finest of their kind in the World.

A wonderful place to visit as you can see quite clearly in places how it was built.....a stunning and unusual building indeed!!

There are also many ghostly stories as you would expect from a building as unusual as this......some can be read below in the first link.

And if you fancy a ghost hunt then the second link will take you to the other side!!!

The light spawns its silver light over the sea.

Pacified, the waves magnify the silence

of the feeble steps of the day

venturing into their habit

of increasing noises.

The skin gets over and is assuming

the splendor of the sun which already lavishes

its luxury of colors and reliefs,

the blue sea, the greedy mirror

in which the sunny sky watches itself

and in its swinging the sound of the waves

suggests a long trip to memory.

Each day renews its memory, old days

in the time unit which is the life.

Number 302 of my 365 photo challenge - A split-toned, macro image of a fresh new pair of mushrooms growing in the grass on a fine Autumn afternoon.

The weather has been crazy this year. Just when I thought these guys should be dying off, more pop up!

Another very famous photo stop on Buttermere in the Lake District.Hopefully I will return here in winter when the single lonely tree is more isolated out in the lake. Still an amazing place with lots of opportunity with its beauty.

Hurricane Matthew 2016

This was an easier photograph to take than one fifty yards to the left, this damage is only to some decking from a restaurant

On the left people lost everything, the sea surge eroded the foundation, the ground floor disappeared & with it all their belongings, the previous shot showed the owners looking for belongings

Water pressure forced the garage door open on the opposite side of the house & then bent it an ninety degrees. Whilst the house still stands it will have to be demolished, houses identified in biblical terms with a red cross & a "phone number".

Almost every other home in this area was declared to be uninhabitable, even those that are are now deemed to be fine will not be able to stand another storm, the sea is at the back door & cannot be stopped

Twenty year ago these where desirable homes

IS GLOBAL WARMING HAPPENING???????????????????

Played around with a few different ideas for this week's Macro Mondays theme, "Flowers". I think this is exactly the look I was after and the Meyer Optik 50mm at f/2.0 gave me the dreamy smooth bokeh I wanted in a shallow DoF shot! Approximately 1.5 inch squared of a red rose bloom.
