Nederland, Zuid-Holland, Rotterdam, 20-03-2009; Hermod, kraanschip van Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) in het Calandkanaal. Het werkschip is een zgn. half-afzinkbaar schip waardoor het schip ook onder extreme weersomstandigheden operationeel kan zijn. Het schip heeft een helikopterdek (heliplat) en is voorzien van twee kranen voor gebruik bij constructiewerkzaamheden in de offshore. Links in de achtergrond Europoort.

Bij storm en dreigend hoog water wordt een van de twee schuiven naar beneden gelaten, de tweede schuif dient al reserve. De scheepvaart kan de gesloten kering paseren via de naastgelegen schutsluis. De stormvloedkering maakt deel uit van de Deltawerken en is als eerste voltooid in 1958.
Krimpen at the river IJssel, near Rotterdam: storm surge barrier, protects the highly populated western part of Holland, which lies below sea level. In case of storm and threat of high water, one of the two doors is lowered into the river (the second door is a spare one). The lock next to the barrier allows shipping when the barrier is closed.

In dit gebied is tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog de bevolking geëvacueerd en de bebouwing ontruimd en/of gesloopt ivm aanleg tankgracht.

Dag van de romantische muziek.
Het historische park aan de voet van de Euromast vormt het decor van een gratis muziekfestival dat jaarlijks in de zomer plaatsvindt. Een evenement met 6 tot 8 podia waar naast romantische muziek verder veel aandacht is voor lekker eten en drinken, romantische literatuur en -schilderkunst.
Heel veel van de bezoekers passen hun kleding aan de sfeer van het festival aan.

The historic park at the foot of the Euromast is the setting for a free music festival that takes place annually in the summer. An event with 6 to 8 stages where, in addition to romantic music, there is also a lot of attention for good food and drinks, romantic literature and painting.
Many of the visitors adapt their clothing to the atmosphere of the festival.
