Some more Macro stuff, not sure if i'm getting somewhat better at it, but it was way busy in the city, some streets were blocked off cause of some event.

The station is 18m deep and has 4 levels. This one is captured on level 2 (level 1 is the entrance on street level).
The Blijdorp subway station is part of the a new recently opened underground rail link, connecting Rotterdam Central with the existing Randstad Rail to Den Haag Central station. The station is designed by Maarten Struijs,an architect with a long standing with Gemeentewerken Rotterdam (Municipal Services Rotterdam) who also designed the new subway section of Rotterdam Central Station and the Willemsbrug.

In the second half of the sixteenth century, flower bulbs came in the attention of the wealthy and scientists in the Low Countries. The botanist Carolus Clusius plays a central role in the distribution of tulips in particular. However, he is not the only one who imports tulips into our regions. Clusius maintains contact with countless friends, and from the correspondence of some of them we can see that there was plenty of exchanges. Tulips were an essential part of that barter.

The Dutch group shelters on the Island of Dordrecht were designed as a shelter by shelling and bombing, if the trenches between the shelters did not give enough coverage. The principle was based on the fights in the First World War.
Several dozens of group shelters (type 1 of part II of the VIS) were built between February and May 1940. Because they had to be build fast, the bunkers are a bit smaller than those in the New Dutch Water Line.
These personnel bunkers were called 'Pyramids' by the Germans, because of their shape.
In May 1940, there was heavy fighting in the Island of Dordrecht, including the Moerdijk Bridges and lots of bunkers have damage because of bullets or grenades. More than 200 Dutch soldiers were killed on the Island of Dordrecht.

Maassluis originated around 1340 as a settlement near a lock in a sea wall. It was constructed between the North Sea and Rotterdam to prevent flooding. The settlement, which fell administratively under Maesland , was called Maeslandsluys . The settlement was sacked in 1489. In the sixteenth century , Marnix van St. Aldegonde had a redoubt built. Before its completion , the redoubt was conquered by the Spaniards in 1573 . Van Aldegonde was captured. A year later, Maeslandsluys was killed by mutinySpanish troops looted.

HSL-Zuid (Dutch: Hogesnelheidslijn Zuid, English: High-Speed Line South), is a 125 km-long high-speed railway line between the Netherlands and Belgium. Together with the Belgian HSL 4 it forms the Schiphol - Antwerp High-Speed Line. Originally scheduled to be in service by 2007, the first public operations began on September 7, 2009, after a ceremony on September 6.[1]
The line is used by Thalys Amsterdam - Paris and Fyra Amsterdam - Breda services. At the pictured spot there are only Thalys trains at the moment.
Limited Fyra service between Amsterdam and Rotterdam began with conventional carriages and rented TRAXX locomotives, but it is hoped that from December 2010 the Fyra service will employ V250 trains and will be extended to The Hague, Breda, Antwerp and Brussels. Delivery of the V250 by its maker AnsaldoBreda has been delayed several times. Fyra is a service of NS Hispeed, a subsidiary of Nederlandse Spoorwegen and KLM, and NMBS.
On 13 December 2009, Thalys began services from Amsterdam to Paris and Brussels on the HSL-Zuid.

Kijfhoek huisvest Keyrail, exploitant Betuweroute en is in beheer bij ProRail. De Betuweroute, die begint als Havenspoorlijn op de Maasvlakte, verbindt via Kijfhoek de Rotterdamse haven met het achterland. Het rangeeremplacement dient voor het sorteren van goederenwagons waarbij gebruik gemaakt wordt van de zwaartekracht, het 'heuvelen': de wagons worden de heuvel opgeduwd, bij het de heuvel afrollen komen ze, door middel van wissels, op verschillende verdeelsporen. Railremmen zorgen voor het automatisch remmen van de wagons. Na het heuvelproces staan de nieuw samengestelde treinen op aparte opstelsporen.
Kijfhoek, railway yard used by ProRail and Keyrail (Betuweroute operator). Kijfhoek connects via the Betuweroute (beginning as Havenspoorlijn on the Maasvlakte), through the port of Rotterdam with the hinterland. The shunting yard for sorting wagons makes use of gravity. The new trains are assembled on separate tracks.

Since its closure in 1971 the saltwater of the Grevelingen slowly started to become brackish due to rainwater and excess polderwater from the islands, but the Dutch changed their mind and decided that they wanted to preserve the saline biotope. Therefore, in 1978 a sluice was created under the Brouwersdam, restoring and maintaining the saline character of the Grevelingen. The Brouwerssluis is open all year round except during storm floods.
The Grevelingenmeer is the largest saltwater lake in Europe and is a popular place for holidays and water sports.
