Lothian 710e (SF74 YMJ), seen here at King’s Building on Route 9, is the first day that Lothian’s BZLs enter public service. When I first rode them, I thought they would be as good as the demonstrator 997 (997 is a really nice vehicle), but I was disappointed. For the ride experience, the announcement is extremely annoying and boring, saying which bus route you can interchange at the stop every stop, and it will also say the night bus routes in daylight, which in my opinion is just pointless and annoying. These 10 brand new electric buses reliability is not at the good standard that Lothian usually provides; 701 and 703 both broke down; others are not much better either. The build quality is absolutely shocking; like this 710, it received some “special care”, as a screw had already fallen off, which is quite disappointing.

Highly impressive vehicles in the Qbuzz fleet in the Netherlands for snelBuzz duties are what Wikipedia says is a batch of 56 of these battery-electric Yutong U13L LE models. While I have not travelled on one, a visual inspection from outside shows them to have 'proper' coach seats, including drop-down tables and such, as befitting their use on 'express' services. Here 8622 (BD-637-D) is seen arriving at Haarlem railway station from Leiden on a 250 journey. While the politics of buying Chinese vehicles is a source of discussion for some, these vehicles (and many others) illustrate what can be achieved when public transport is funded properly.

The Lagonda All-Terrain Concept is a near future study that continues the evolution of a design language that could be seen in production Lagonda models as soon as 2022. Where the Lagonda Vision Concept shown at last year’s Geneva motor show was purely focused on road travel, this new vehicle broadens Lagonda’s horizons. It appeals to a pioneering spirit of adventure and such is its futuristic design that you could just as easily imagine it roaming the surface of Mars as a mountain in Scotland.

À la fin des années 1980, Citroën se rend compte que l’automobile peut devenir un problème en ville et, esprit d’innovation oblige, travaille activement à la recherche de solution. Une des réponses sera ce très intelligent et complet concept Citela présenté au pavillon français de Séville en 1992 pour l’exposition universelle. Complet car il répond aux questions de pollution avec sa motori-sation électrique, mais aussi aux spécificités de la circulation en ville comme son petit gabarit, ses roues jumelées à l’arrière pour un court rayon de braquage et une grande surface vitrée couvrant aussi le pavillon. La prise électrique se trouve derrière la plaque minéralogique. D’une longueur de 2,96 m et d’une largeur de 1,55 m pour 790 kg, son moteur électrique de 72 Volts lui permettait d’atteindre 110 km/h. Ce projet aboutira naturellement aux AX électriques. Dans l’esprit de cette vente, le modèle original est et restera conservé par Citroën Heritage. C’est donc la maquette de salon qui est proposée. Unique en son genre, elle représente exactement ce que ce concept innovant propose, à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieure. Une occasion inespérée de posséder ce qu’imaginait Citroën en véhicule électrique, 25 ans avant l’essor de ce type de motorisation.
