I have finally managed to grab some decent shots of an experimental electric-drive battery powered carbon fibre bus that lives local to me.

RX15HSU is a 'Bristol Superlight' built by the Frazer-Nash Research company based in Farnborough, Hants. The bus was first registered on 28/08/2015 and I've been after a decent shot of it ever since!

Their concept bus is kitted out to B27D layout and weighs in at just 3.5 tonnes, its revenue weight listed as 4840kg. It carries a 1.0L engine which is used to recharge the lithium batteries and as such the bus is marketed as ultra low emission / zero emission capable.

I grabbed some shots of the bus when it was out on a demonstration run on 02/03/2017.

In it's second day of service for the company is E004 named 'Ivy' which is one of 19 Electric double deckers delivered to Yardley Wood depot in 2020.

Following service changes over the weekend due to the impacts of low passenger numbers as a result of the 3rd UK Lockdown Go North East has once again reduced frequencies on a number of services accross the region.

As a result of a frequency reduction on Voltra Services 53/54 this has resulted in two of the Yutong E10 Electics being reallocated to Nexus Secured service 33 which operates from Newcastle City Centre to Hollywood Avenue via Jesmond, Gosforth and Regent Centre.

9049 has returned to Go North East for another "Electric Bus Trial" following it's previous spell in April 2021 on Voltra Services 53/54 which operate between Newcastle and Gateshead via Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside and Saltwell Park, this time around it will be operating on Green Arrow Service 97 which operates between Newcastle and MetroCentre via Gateshead and Whickham.

Arrival of the yellow battery-electrics in Liverpool has made quite a difference to the bus scene, and they are highly visible... unlike the 20 ill-fated hydrogen fuel cell-electric examples that made very little impact through rarely seeing service. The Metro brand and yellow livery will expand much further over the coming years as bus franchising is rolled out in the Liverpool City Region. Here on its third day in service is Stagecoach Merseyside 80512 (SN26 XXR) on Lime Street while working a 17 trip to Queen Square.
