No doubt what this bus is - it carries a Wright New Routemaster style SRM body. Some information on this vehicle is to be found on page 10 of the September 2017 issue of BUSES Magazine. On trade plates it is giving rides around the internal circuit of the British Motor Museum at Gaydon.

This 1602, to all appearances the same of thousands of 02s that helped build BMW's success, is 100 % electric. It was unveiled at the Munich Olympic Games in the heart of Bavaria, BMW territory. The 1602 was in full running order using an ingenious system of interchangeable batteries. It was the first step on the road that led to today's i-BMW's.

Adoption of zero-emission technologies in North American bus fleets is proceeding at a much slower pace than in Europe, although the conundrum of providing sufficient range using battery-electric technology while powering the standard-fit air-conditioning unit is no doubt a factor in that, as will be the generally conservative approach of US transit agencies. Proterra has made some headway with its distinctively-styled battery-electric range, although not all has been straightforward for this manufacturer, as Google quickly reveals. The informative cptdb.ca wiki tells us that Greater Bridgeport Transit in Connecticut took delivery of a pair of Catalyst BE40 models from Proterra in 2020. Here one of them, 4001, is seen in an attractive livery across the street from the Bridgeport Metro North rail station.

Battista "Pinin" Farina, the famous Italian cachbuilder always dreamt of creating a car bearing his name. In March 2019, Automobili Pininfarina unveiled the Battista. The Battista will be an all-electric hyper GT car to clients from 2020. 90 years after Battista founded Carrozzria Pininfarina, the Battista will be launched as Italy's most powerful and fastest car. Paolo Pininfarina, Michael Perschke, CEO of Automobili Pininfarina and Mahindra & Mahindra Chairman, Anand Mahindra, confirm that the limited-edition hypercard Battista will be the fastest and most powerful car ever designed and produced in Italy. Power and torque equate to 1.900 hp and 2.300 Nm respectively, meaning the Battista has the potential to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds, faster than a Formula 1 car, and break the 250 mph top speed barrier - all with a potential zero emissions range of over 300 miles. No more than 150 Battistas will be available from late-2020.

The Irizar ie tram battery-electric bus has gained traction on flagship-type schemes around Europe, and I believe some are also to be delivered to Mexico. It is a visually-striking model that is aptly named. Opportunity charging is part of the package, which allows battery mass to be reduced and passenger capacity to be maximised. In Switzerland, examples of the ie tram in both 12m and 18m form are to be seen in Schaffhausen, where at present a project is underway outside the city's main railway station to add further opportunity charging gantries. Some such units are already in use, with this articulated example having made use of one for a few minute before departing on a 3 journey for Sommerwies.

- High-quality restoration by the staff at the Collection
- Electric conversion by EV Europe
- Can be registered in the Netherlands
A legend that was an inseparable part of the French automotive scene from the 1960s to the 1990s, Renault’s first front-wheel drive car, the Renault 4, introduced a rear tailgate, long-travel suspension and an excellent load capacity. In 2021, to celebrate the model’s 60th anniversary, the manufacturer had five cars converted to electric power.
It chose versions symbolising the model, which were completely restored by the staff at the Collection before being sent to EV Europe, a Dutch specialist which carried out the conversion, replacing the petrol engine by an electric motor and installing the batteries. The motor is directly connected to the gearbox, which is locked in third, with an electrical inverter providing reverse gear. A screen has been added on the left-hand side of the dashboard to display the information specific to the electric powertrain. The car produces about 30bhp and has a range of approximately 100km.
This F4 van model quickly became the best-selling small van on the market and was only dropped in 1988, after more than 2 million had been built. Today, R4 vans are rarely found, as they often ended their days on the scrap heap.
This car escaped that unhappy fate. In superb condition, it has been restored in the colours of the French electrical goods shop Darty, and the stickers for ‘Darty, ‘Service Après-Vente’ et ‘TV Électroménager Hifi Vidéo’ are present in the load bay. This Renault 4 F4, which can only be registered in the Netherlands, represents an attractive compromise between the appeal of the past and the electric power of today.
This Yutong U12 carries the basic all-over yellow livery seen on buses in and surrounding Copenhagen. It is departing from Helsingor station working a 347 journey on a Saturday morning.
