Container ZERO is a self-contained communications station used to connect real-world Burning Man with virtual worlds on the Internet.
Danger Ranger acquired the first Burning Man shipping container in 1997, which was designated ZERO. By the year 2008, there were over 90 shipping containers in the Burning Man transportation fleet.
Container ZERO is a Vietnam era military communications box with a lightweight aluminum frame. It was designed to be helicoptered into the field. The floor, ceiling and walls are fully insulated, so it stays relatively cool in the desert heat. From 1997 thru 1999 it served as storage and staging for the Black Rock Rangers. From 2000 to 2004, it was used on the DPW Work Ranch to house the inverter controls and battery bank for a solar power system. From 2005 to 2006 it was used for storage by Bill Carson. In 2007 it was returned to mobile use as Danger Ranger's on-playa communication station. The interior has been decorated to look like a Jules Vern Victorian computer parlor. One side of the container is hinged at the bottom, so when the weather permits, it can be opened up. When the side is open and the oriental carpet unrolled, it looks like a steampunk set on a theater stage.
Most of the graphics & artwork inside container ZERO were done by Dusty Hawthorne.

Cosplayer: Taylor
Character: Zero
Series: Code Geass
This time last year, Taylor and I shot his Trafalgar Law Cosplay and this year we decided to shoot his Zero Cosplay. Although I’ve already photographed him as Zero (many moons ago and those photos will likely never see the light of day again), I thought we would re-shoot it. Code Geass was one of the first anime series I watched and enjoyed (so much so that I’ve re-watched it a few times now) and Taylor does a fantastic job of portraying Zero.
We set a date to shoot and despite the rain we went through with it. Zero is a very mysterious character and with the way the weather worked out and the ideas I had in mind we decided to capture the darker side of Zero.
These are my favourites (but you can find more on my website) and I hope you enjoy them!

Australian Neil Stephens (Zero Boys) winning the 10th stage of the Milk Race in 1988. Quite a rare photo as the team were only in existence for that year. It was made up of riders who did not have a sponsor, hence the large O and the words zero on it. Even without a major sponsor the team managed to ride in some of the world's major races, including Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Amstel Gold. The team hoped to recruit individual sponsors for each race they entered thus reducing the vast amounts of cash needed to sponsor a team for a season.
