9009, 9032 and 9008 keep their loaded coal train in check as they approach Warabrook Station on the down main line. On the up main, a CountryLink Xplorer set rattles across the pointwork bound for Sydney, having come down from Moree and Armidale over the course of the day.
People familiar with this scene may wonder why 9009 is hauling a LOADED coal train westwards - this train has likely come from Teralba Colliery, one of the few locations on the RailCorp network that the 90 Class visit in regular service. The train would cross over onto the Kooragang Island branch line following the clearance of the CountryLink service.
On a long term service provided by rail, 48143 is between Koolbury and Muswellbrook with the empty NTAF oil wagons returning to Clyde (Sydney) for reloading..
The service was replaced by trucks which now help to clutter the highways of the state while the line to Tamworth is now served by only an Xplorer each way each day. Profits before common sense.
