Why Gulls? Truth be known, gulls are very entertaining to watch. Although I realize they are not the most "prettiest" of birds, they certainly can keep my attention -- at least long enough to grab action shots like this one.
My first proper day 'out' for a while...I saw this coming down the river while viewing Marine Traffic on my phone, so heroically hung around in the cold (not really that bad...).
This is the Yarmouth Belle, which I've never seen before: it was built in 1892 at Great Yarmouth as a passenger steamer, sailing between Yarmouth and Norwich on the River Yare. It was moved to the River Thames in 1946.
Rebuilt in restored at Sunbury On Thames where, it seems, its funnel and paddle wheels were replaced (I'm not certain it originally was a paddle steamer...) by 'dummies'. It's been sailing as a pleasure cruiser on the upper reaches of the Thames, it seems, since 1946 and its publicity and other photos here, for example, show it in better condition (cleaner. fresher paint...). It's now moored off St Mary's Island at Chatham, on the River Medway, perhaps to be brought back to pristine condition as it's a lovely boat, even with its falsies. (26/1/2025: looks like it's in for a make-over at a Chatham boatyard...)
It looks like there was another Yarmouth Belle, of a similar age, which was twice requisitioned as a minesweeper, once in each World War. I don't think this is the same boat but will happily be corrected if wrong.
The building behind it is the Watergate entry to Tilbury Fort (before the river wall it opened on the water...).

EC2528 races down hill on the wrong road as NP24 from Armidale.
Just prior to lunch time, a coal train was pulled up for having sticking brakes. The coal road was stopped until the fault was rectified, which also held up the UP main with other rail traffic, leaving the DOWN main clear for passenger services to operate bidirectional.

Louise knew she'd taken a wrong turn; the hills looked lumpy. All she know was she was in for a hairy ride. Freshly picked gooseberries out of the garden and DOF image stack of 5 pictures stacked in Zerene. Louise was a very patient model.(1 of 3)

but this scene kinda reminded me about a movie i once saw called " wrong turn", kinda scary movie and kinda scary scene? but i like how it turned out:) hope you like it as well:)

I stepped into the wrong house, thinking it was just another harmless mistake. The air was heavy and smelled faintly of herbs and something metallic. Before I could process the eerie silence, I found myself in a dark room lit by flickering candles.
My heart sank as I realized I was standing in the middle of a pentagram, drawn in what looked like dried blood. The moment my foot crossed its edge, the candles flared violently, and shadows began to move—alive, whispering in languages I couldn’t understand.
A chill ran down my spine as a voice echoed from nowhere: “You’ve arrived… and you’re perfect.”
I had stumbled into something I couldn’t escape. This was no ordinary house—it was a trap, and I was its prey.
We thought there was going to be a break in the storms yesterday so we made a short trip to the local park to meet up with a friend. Oops. The weatherman was wrong. We were drenched by the time we got home but it was fun catching up with James. 😄
Today's story and sketch "by me", is about the incredible intergalactic cooperation in the last week to locate Rescue Randy who went missing after he wandered off in A dust cloud after falling off Clyde his Thoroughbred Dromedary Racing Camel, at the most famous Camel Races in the Galaxy held at the Riverside International Camel Raceway, It was on the back high speed straight away when Randy the most interesting living tissue crash test dummy and part time camel Jockey in the Cosmos, was in thirteenth place consumed in a cloud of dust when he and Clyde were making a move to the outside of the tightly bunched camels, when overhead the wide world of sports helicopter cameraman lost his footing on the skidtube, both he and the shoulder camera fell right on top of Clyde and Randy, sending them and many of the camel's and riders behind them rolling and tumbling. When the dust settled and the paramedics had taken away the more seriously injured camels and riders, the trackside cameras all zoomed above to see Randy flying away in his vintage Biplane, the same one you see today a week later landing on the surface of the Moon. Seems Randy suffered a head injury that he didn't take too seriously, having had many much more serious in his long career. So Randy crawled to the biplane, retrieved his crash test dummy first aid kit, looking into the kits mirror carefully filled the gaping hole in his forehead with crash test dummy putty, covering it with medium tan two thousand mile an hour test dummy skin tape, then mistakenly self medicated with some of Clyde's tranquilizers. He then flew into the Indio Stargate, fell into a deep sleep. The biplanes autopilot took over and started flying from wormhole to wormhole, Randy just woke up and exited the first stargate available, and as you can see it is the moon's Sea of Tranquility exit, as he is being watched by the Space shuttle as he is landing. For the next local service from Ivano-Frakivsk we found a spot overlooking a bridge the Yaremche side of the small halt at Dora. This service turned up being worked by a push/pull DPL1 (ДПЛ1) unit. Generally consisting of half a 2M62 loco and two or three hauled coaches with a driving cab, these can be seen working services predominantly in Ukraine and Belarus. Being numbered in a unit series means the loco part of these can sometimes be quite hard to identify.
DPL1-0021 (ДПЛ1-0021) was one of these with a hard to identify loco, however another group of British enthusiasts out in Ukraine at the same time as us managed to ID the loco section of this as 2M62-1114A. Unfortunately for us it turned up at our chosen shot at Dora with the driving car rather than loco leading into the sun. A quick about-turn though did allow this pleasing view of the unit with 2M62-1114A providing the power on train no.6405 08:25 Ivano-Frankivsk to Yaremche service, not far from journey's end on 24th October 2019.
