Cursive... Foiled again!!!

Li'l New Year promos for my clients, going out tomorrow. They were originally going to be Christmas gifts but, you know, things got nutty. In retrospect, I'm glad and I think I'll make Darling new year greetings a tradition.

‘to write’

So, I had to. I had to make my first November photo/gif about writing, didn't I? I don't even care that I'm already behind on the novel, or that I'm neck-deep in wedding edits. What I care about is the outlet that it gives me, the possibilities it creates. It's what I do with self-portraiture, only done in a way that can be more descriptive, deeper than this. I'm so lucky to get to create worlds with both cameras and typewriters.

It just feels like peace and quiet. And like home. Like coming back after a long time, seeing people you love, feeling warm and fuzzy and like the world is full of possibility. It's a joy, truly.

WIP

I have been busy sewing for Blythecon Europe in June, but I still have a lot to do and plan! It's the first time I will have a stall and I am nervous/excited :)

I am a student so I spent the Easter holidays sewing. These are some of the outfits I am working on. I've been getting inspiration from many things. The other day I started a little tumblr blog here: cosmiadoll.tumblr.com/ with the intention of having a little place other than flickr to share and write about doll related things. If you are on tumblr please follow me, I would love to follow some blogs too!

Sometimes you’re out on the job and see some bins that are completely stuffed, yet they continue to be used. The featured is one of the best I’ve come across, discovered on a recycling run in The Hills. I remember grabbing it like normal, lifted it and found the material was struggling to come out, in fact more seemed to come out as I lowered the bin. After getting bloody annoyed and thinking WTF, I got a proper look at the bin and the material discharge problem was understood. As you can see the bin is cracked up like all fuck and it appears the resident has unsuccessfully tried to hold it in shape with some loops of what might be wire - little do they know about grabber pressure. As I understand it, The Hills (or Baulkham Hills back in the day) was the first Sydney council to get a bin based commingled recycling service in the 1990s and a lot of the original bins are still in service. It’s safe to say a lot of these original bins aren’t in too perfect a condition, plenty can be seen wrapped up in tape, cracked on various surfaces or just seen with some kind of homemade patch up job.

a long quote from (R.H. Blyth, ZEN AND ZEN CLASSICS, Volume Two, History of Zen, pag. 141) for my teachers,

A monk asked Reiju (Lingshu) “What is the meaning of Daruma’s coming to the West?” Reiju was silent. After he died, people wanted to inscribe his doings on his tomb-stone, and this incident was decided on. At this time Ummon was the chief monk, and one of the monks asked him how to put the incident of the remaining silent on the grave-stone. Ummon said, “Write, ‘Teacher’.”

We teach silently, and only silently, though we may be silent or talk. Reiju did not teach by his being silent, but by his silence, a Silence which never stopped, even with his death and eternal silence.

Ummon composed a verse:

A sentence which does not reveal its meaning

Attains its end before being spoken.

You press forward, with mouth a-chatter,

Betraying your not knowing what to do.

The first two lines look like mere perverse contradictoriness, but this is not so. In actual daily experience, or rather, in monthly and yearly, not to say lifely experience, it is always the unspoken intention that is effective, not the words which follow.

Sono tutte dei piccoli giardini Zen le tombe presso il cimitero di Loddekopinge, ma la mia fotografia rende giustizia forse solo alle ombre dei capitozzati.

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. To Write Love On Her Arms Day is a day where anyone can write the words love on their arms, to support those who are fighting against depression and those who are trying to recovering. On this day, just write love on your arms, and show it off, other people will ask why you have love written on your arms, and you tell them you are supporting to write love on her arms day, and how its benefiting a non profit organization helping stop depression, and make love the movement ♥

if you don't know what twloha is, there is a description. i support this organization fully and always will. during these 2 days, whenever it wore off in the shower or started to fade, i rewrote it and it was on my wrist all of friday and saturday.

i got tagged to write 10 facts and instead of 10 facts i'm going to do 10 favorites. those of you who i tag don't have to do 10 favorites. 10 anything really.

1. my favorite color is blue because it reminds me of the ocean on the californian coast and of summer 2010.

2. my favorite band is paramore because hayley williams is one of the most inspirational and talented people to ever walk this earth. and no, she did not start her career with airplanes. nowhere near that. paramore is where she started and will always be.

3. my favorite food is ice cream. i don't have a because other than that it's ice cream. who wouldn't freaking love ice cream.

4. my favorite movie is the hangover because i laughed the entire time and it is hilarious and i can practically quote the whole thing.

5. my favorite smiley face is :D because it's really happy and i like to be happy even if that doesn't happen all too often. but i like happy smiley faces. and that one is overly happy.

6. my favorite store to shop at is metro park for dresses and whatnot. i don't have a ton of stuff from there, but i love all of their clothes so much.

7. my favorite video game is halo reach because it's really fun and it's satisfying to shoot everything/everyone. i played it at my friends house and it was incredibly amazing even if i'm completely terrible.

8. my favorite school subject is english because i love writing and we do a lot of writing in english. it has always been my favorite subject.

9. my favorite sport is soccer because it is an amazingly athletic and challenging sport that never has a dull side and i look forward to soccer during the week. it is the best part of the week. i love my team because we are like a family. i would probably be nothing without this sport. i didn't play for awhile and that year was the hardest of my life and starting to play again has made all of the drama in my life almost completely disappear and i find that i am happier now that i get on the soccer field 3 or 4 times a week.

10. my favorite caffeinated drink is a mocha because it's delicious and it has chocolate in it and i am quite partial to chocolate.

almost sooc. edited the contrast slightly. please view in lightbox aka press 'l'.

Sen. Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., has despatched a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to inquire about what ways the company is using to reduce hobbyist drones from colliding with aircraft in the vicinity of Massachusetts airfields.

In the letter,...

Day 55/365

I have a thing for pretty stationery :D

This is the recent addition to my collection. Love it!

(Day 106)

alrightyy so i promised bryan that i would write i long description today so here i go! so i know i already uploaded a picture kinda like this but i felt like this picture is fitting for my life right now! i <3 brownie cameras! well my friends and i did this major project called national history day where you pick a topic that relates to the theme (inventions) and we chose the brownie camera. we didnt really take it seriously we just wanted the extra credit. and its like a really big competion there were about 20 different posters and only the top two go to cooperstown to compete in states. and we had to give a presentation about our poster and my best friend maggie just talked the judges ears off the entire time! it was so funny! so when they were annoucing the winners they called our names and we got first! we were so so surprised!! so now we get to all stay over night in cooperstown together and visit the baseball hall of fame and all this other cool stuff for free!! how cool is that??

oh and i have to say thank you to Kimberly Chorney for inspiring me for this shot :) i feel kinda like a copy cat. . sorry i hope you dont mind!

One of my favorite things...next to photography. Both do a wonderful job of keeping me in the present moment; I am a dreamer and get lost often.
