my son took these images.

The underlying fabric is called Forest Hills. I was looking for some 'american dream' upbeat home prints to use in my latest foreclosure quilt. I love this one because the repeat is so similar to a typical street grid that is seen throughout Cleveland.

Welcome to SugarPlumDolls.com I think my cute clothespin dolls make fabulous Christmas ornaments or gifts BUT are now also available as greetings cards, postcards and more..Just to let you know all dolls are individually handcrafted clothespin dolls and make very special gifts or can be used as a holiday ornament. I think they add a personal touch to the holidays! It takes me about 2 to 3 days to make each doll. Each doll has her own personality. No two dolls are alike, some dolls may be similar but because of the handmade process each doll is unique. Some dolls may have slight imperfections in the wood, but aren't we all a little less than perfect! Each doll arrives on my worktable as a blank slate. After I draw on the face, paint the hair and body, then I glue the head to the body then wait a day for the paint and glue to dry. I have a treasure trove of fabric and tulle and I begin to craft an outfit and accessories for each girl. I hope you will enjoy your visit here. You can shop for an actual doll online at www.etsy.com/shop/clothespindolls or visit me on YouTube at youtube.com/clothespindolls where I show you how to make your own Sugar Plum Clothespin dolls and other cute handmade items. Enjoy the day!

Another angle of my new reloading and work bench; including the Craftsman cabinet and riser I found through Toolmonger.

Looking right from my worktable. My youngest is selling some Legos on ebay so they are on display IN one of the rooms of the Dal house...again, not a normal family! She made the castle on top of the bookcase for a school project a few years ago. Sam and Dean are sitting in the Deluxe Reading kitchen. The plastic drawers below them house more Re-ment.

These voile strips represent neighborhood blocks in my foreclosure map quilts. This is the stage before I start to piece them together to make the front panel. I love the frayed edges which will only become more frayed as I sew them together.

Yes, under all the clutter is my worktable. No, it has not dropped a bomb, nor have I pulled out every equipment I own. I have just been really bad clearing away equipment before I took on new things.

So this is my work-list from week 10 until week 22:

*Cleaning my work table, - 30 minutes.

*Illustration to text from Eirik - a bit stuck.

*Postcard swap, 10 postcards, iHanna - Not started, deadline 12th of March!

*Marionetts, learning to make some dolls, 400 hours. - about 70 hours into the project.

*Educational illustration - almost done, about 4hours left.

*Carving a stamp/linoleum - just the fine tuning and printing/stamping.

*Install shelves in the studio - not sure of the hours, 6 racks, 3 done.

*Moly_x, - one journal entry every month.

*Rakels picture, - adding text and varnishes, deadline 1.May.

*Art journal - 15 minutes everyday.

If I find the time:

*Blog, somewhere in my head there is a connection between what I know I would love to share, and finding the moments to put my self down and typing it up in English.

* Lifebook classes

*Editing the videos that I have filmed.

*Make 10 ATC and find someone to swap them with!

*Sample book, making an overview of the techniques I know.

This one of a series of books made from the paper I place on my worktable. They form a diary of marks related to the period of time they are in place. Some have dates, this one does not. The paper here is a heavy cartridge paper, the front nad back covers have been coated in beeswax to give them some strength.

This particular book was produced in 2012 whilst preparing for my Painting with Natural Dyes workshop.

It has a tape binding, so all pages will open flat, the tape used is naturally dyed silk which has then been made into silk string which wraps around the book and is tied to secure it. It has been hand bound using a linen thread.

There are some awesome marks in this book, many pages appear to be maps of myserious places. There is quite a bit of colour in this book, featuring experiments with natural dye pigments to make paint such as , cochineal, logwood, indigo, madder, alkanet, lac and querabacho also play with tea and dandelion coffee.

This book can either be left as an artist's book or you can enter into a collaboration with me

by working into the pages

If you do that please share the results with me

Book is 7.5 x 10.5 cm (3 x 41/2") and has 62 pages.

A look at Steve's worktable- getting ready to make some cakes for the case!

My worktable, currently dominated by three nearly-complete Lego stained glass mosaics.

Early morning time at worktable...view out my window this morning is foggy and rain splatters the window. Inspiration for this sketch is from a photo at Flickr.

Ahhhh, a clean sewing room!

"I've got some skills, you know? I invented my own fighting technique."

(Actually, I invented it, since I can't do fighting scenes, so if this looks nothing like a real fighting pose, blame me - not her!)

This is a project that I had on my mind (and worktable) for quite a long time! Thanks to Dal Lee, who encouraged me to show my Havoc, I finally got myself together to cut her hair and take the photos ; ).

For those who don't know, the original Havoc is a fashion doll from the Seventies and is closely related (not by blood but by manufacturing ; )) to Mary Quant's "Daisy". There are some great sites out there where you can find more info on the original doll.

I stumbled across the original Havoc many years ago and remembered her when Poppy Parker got into the "Lotta Danger" and "Girl from INTEGRITY" storyline. Since Lotta's arch enemy Sebina and her brother Sebastian are the Havoc siblings, it's pretty safe to think that David B. had Havoc in mind when her worked on Lotta.

To make it short: Havoc is a secret agent whose real name is not known and she works as a journalist (at least sometimes) while her true job is kicking the evil a**es all over the world. The backside of the doll packaging had some cool comics that showed Havoc in action and wow, this girl means business! She's great!

My own girl got a midnight blue lycra bodysuit with working zipper (completely sewn by hand, I went crazy with this outfit *lol*) and white boots. That's her standard battle suit. I made a 1/6 scale version of her pink shirt (from the motorcycle set), too, but haven't made the rest of the items yet (jeans, leather jacket and so on).

I'm not quite sure, if I want to make her more outfits based on her original ones, or not. The trehcncoat with red hat is iconic!

Big thanks go to my brother, who recreated the Havoc logo so I could complete the suit and to Dal Lee for giving me the needed push towards completing the project.

Odds and Ends on my worktable today. These are the artifacts which make my life curious.

Working on some new projects and patterns. Just waiting for it to warm up a bit and then I will head outside to enjoy (finally) a sunny day in Seattle!!

I'll admit it, I'm hooked on miniature printables. Putting together my tiny Portland Mercury got me thinking about other tiny printable items I could make, and the timing pointed me to tiny Valentines.

There are three different Valentines and three different envelopes for you to make.

Here you can see my Very Fancy Method for keeping the envelopes folded while the glue dries. You can also see how playing with depth of field transorms a disturbingly messy worktable into delicious bokeh. For the win!
