Welcome to SugarPlumDolls.com I think my cute clothespin dolls make fabulous Christmas ornaments or gifts BUT are now also available as greetings cards, postcards and more..Just to let you know all dolls are individually handcrafted clothespin dolls and make very special gifts or can be used as a holiday ornament. I think they add a personal touch to the holidays! It takes me about 2 to 3 days to make each doll. Each doll has her own personality. No two dolls are alike, some dolls may be similar but because of the handmade process each doll is unique. Some dolls may have slight imperfections in the wood, but aren't we all a little less than perfect! Each doll arrives on my worktable as a blank slate. After I draw on the face, paint the hair and body, then I glue the head to the body then wait a day for the paint and glue to dry. I have a treasure trove of fabric and tulle and I begin to craft an outfit and accessories for each girl. I hope you will enjoy your visit here. You can shop for an actual doll online at www.etsy.com/shop/clothespindolls or visit me on YouTube at youtube.com/clothespindoll where I show you how to make your own Sugar Plum Clothespin dolls and other cute handmade items. Enjoy the day!

Some beads and more tools, all jewelry related. I do many different types of creating in this room, but this corner is just for jewelry....supposed to be anyway.

I'll admit it, I'm hooked on miniature printables. Putting together my tiny Portland Mercury got me thinking about other tiny printable items I could make, and the timing pointed me to tiny Valentines.

There are three different Valentines and three different envelopes for you to make.

Here you can see my Very Fancy Method for keeping the envelopes folded while the glue dries. You can also see how playing with depth of field transorms a disturbingly messy worktable into delicious bokeh. For the win!

we recently re-arranged my 'press corner' into a part of our bedroom for many reasons, but i'm excited, it's now against one wall together, and looks much better. i am so excited and inspired to get going this season! next goal: new worktable!

Ok, lots of projects today...a clean worktable helps. LOL

The card mentioned is from Paperiaarre. Check her out...lovely stuff from Finland.

Merino, with silk chiffon sari fabric, BFL locks, slubby wool yarn, silk caps on the outside and sari silk fibre internally.

My biggest piece of felt to date! Layout was about 3.5m x 5ft - thank goodness for the big worktable that my husband made for me this autumn :)

Ha! I am clearly still working out this photo thing!! Here is some work from yesterday..having fun with this.

a pair of 3' x4' worktables I made for woodworking

The reason I haven't had much time lately for photography.

My brother recently bought a 90 year old house. The house is structurally sound but the previous owners of 9 years were filthy pigs.

The basement was an absolute disaster. It was filled to over-flowing with all sorts of junk, worktables, cupboards, bookshelves, rancid preserves, broken appliances and an large menagerie of some of North America's biggest and scariest looking spiders. I swear one of them flipped me off when I disturbed its hidey-hole.

All of this (except, perhaps the spiders) was super-saturated with 9 years accumulation of cat shit and piss. Irridescent pools of feline urine were scattered over many of the low-lying areas while shattered jars of rancid pickles contributed piquant overtones to the pungent ammonia odour of the piss. It's the type of smell that lives in your nostrils for days, imprinting itself on your neural synapses and refusing to leave like an unwanted house-guest. Totally gagworthy.

What was originally planned to be a standard junk clearing expedition turned into a full blown demolition/decontamination. Swinging sledgehammers and crowbars, we completely stripped the basement of everything except the furnace, boiler and a few bare studs.

I think I know why my brother got such a good deal.

This one of a series of books made from the paper I place on my worktable. They form a diary of marks related to the period of time they are in place. Some have dates, this one does not. The paper here is a heavy cartridge paper, the front nad back covers have been coated in beeswax to give them some strength.

This particular book was produced in 2012 whilst preparing for my Painting with Natural Dyes workshop.

It has a tape binding, so all pages will open flat, the tape used is naturally dyed silk which has then been made into silk string which wraps around the book and is tied to secure it. It has been hand bound using a linen thread.

There are some awesome marks in this book, many pages appear to be maps of myserious places. There is quite a bit of colour in this book, featuring experiments with natural dye pigments to make paint such as , cochineal, logwood, indigo, madder, alkanet, lac and querabacho also play with tea and dandelion coffee.

This book can either be left as an artist's book or you can enter into a collaboration with me

by working into the pages

If you do that please share the results with me

Book is 7.5 x 10.5 cm (3 x 41/2") and has 62 pages.

a 5' x 2' x20" cargo chest I made out of red oak; and finished with 8 coats of marine spar varnish.

I specifically built it to fit my hitch-haul cargo carrier, to act as a cargo box on the back of my truck; but it also serves as a lockable tool chest in my outdoor woodworking area.

A coat in progress in Elizabeth Holliday's studio in Memphis.

2/12/15....looking up as I worked on a current project.

The top is composed of two sheets of 3/4 inch plywood and is 3 feet by 8 feet. The legs and stretchers are pine with mortise and tenon joinery.
