With lots of very, very thin sterling silver wire I coiled a frame of thicker gauge silver wire and then used peridot briolettes, one gorgeous 12mm Thai silver bead, Thai facetted silver beads and sterling silver beads in two sizes to adorn it. I oxidized the whole piece, went back to the worktable and beaded in lovely freshwater pearls.
This is what I call the "royal icing." It is very tedious to make and I don't even have much to show for it after hours and hours of whipping clay up! It is completely made out of clay, so don't taste to sample or you will get a mouthful of nasty surprise.
My gigantic worktable that I love dearly, and makes it so I don't have to bend over a small table and kill my back!

My 'sketching' involves lots of trace paper overlays to pull out relevant data for my Foreclosure quilts. Not unlike what my day to day desk looked like when I worked as an urban designer.

a 5' x 2' x20" cargo chest I made out of red oak; and finished with 8 coats of marine spar varnish.
I specifically built it to fit my hitch-haul cargo carrier, to act as a cargo box on the back of my truck; but it also serves as a lockable tool chest in my outdoor woodworking area.

I think they add a personal touch to the holidays! It takes me about 2 to 3 days to make each doll. Each doll has her own personality. No two dolls are alike, some dolls may be similar but because of the handmade process each doll is unique. Some dolls may have slight imperfections in the wood, but aren't we all a little less than perfect! Each doll arrives on my worktable as a blank slate. After I draw on the face, paint the hair and body, then I glue the head to the body then wait a day for the paint and glue to dry. I have a treasure trove of fabric and tulle and I begin to craft an outfit and accessories for each girl. I hope you will enjoy your visit here. Mesh worktable, with stool, empty canvas, pads and chalks. Table surface changes via touch menu to make it easy to work on. Designed to be an actual working surface. Rust: the bane of my existence. I needed a long composing stick for a piece I'm working on, and my only long one is not stainless. I set a line to judge its length, and then put the stick aside on my worktable. After about two weeks, look what happened. This is why, in our marine environment, I need to keep ferrous things oiled and in an airtight container. A knowledgeable friend has recommended Carwell's CP90, and I'm definitely going to try it.
Joe having another place to work has also freed up his desk in the back room to become a more flexible location for projects. Here it is in sewing mode—with the first output, a completed "draft dodger" on the floor by the door.
His monitor/keyboard/mouse are easily accessible in the closet directly across from the desk, so it can return to computing tasks at need, but doesn't present an uninspiring view to me from my desk all day every day anymore.
One other big benefit is this desk is 30" deep while the old worktable (behind my desk and thus behind the camera in this shot) is only 24". Turns out to be a pretty crucial difference for comfort while sewing!
this wall behind my studio worktable was pretty bare until only recently, when it got "decorated" with the linears for these illustrations, along with my magnet board which had been sitting on the floor since we moved in... 6 months ago.

I had an electrical problem this weekend so I decided it was a good time to reorg my grinders. I added outlets under the table and hooks to hold the grinders under the table. So far it's working out pretty good. No more cord knots.
Country kitchen work table has been painted in a creamy shade of white with blue accents. This kitchen table has a solid oak top finished with a light natural stain. Features two drawers for you silverware and pretty linens. An antique piece from the 1940's with a new look!

I love having the (former) dining room as my studio because of the openness of it. My garage worktable is right off the dining room, and the sun room (now our dining room) lets in additional light. I love a bright work area. I also like feeling like I'm still part of the household when I'm working and can pop in and out as time permits.
Getting closer to being done with her now. I'm at the detailing stage and I'm having a lot of fun.
After working on this little sea princess I want one of my own. Oh well, maybe one day!

Seeing how to cut away. Not sure how this will end up looking. I loved the blue backing design (peeking through) so much that I think I might make it a front for a new piece.
