I happened on this scene when I went into Sandy's backyard a few days ago. Gracie stays right by Sandy when she gardens, nose a few feet from whatever tool Sandy is using.

Sandy's roses, first in comments below:

Moe is the soul of patience with tiny Gracie but she really is all over him lots of the time. When he gets tired of her, he gives a low growl and she understands. It's time for her to go find more mischief to get into - maybe dig a nice hole or chew a bush.

EXPLORE 1/22/13

Okay so last minute change if nobody minds (I'm guessing Illona will be thrilled).

Everyone meet the newest 52 weeks package! Hina'ea is a 9 month old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon (better known as "Wow, what breed is that?!"). Her offical name is Citrine's Offshore Sunrise, hence the Polynesian call name which means "goddess of sunset & sunrise." Hina is adorable, flaky, quite gamey, and going to be quite the challenge which is why I decided to take her on! She has a lot going on this year with field training, a national specialty, and learning dock diving so this should be interesting!

On a side note, last weekend I discovered a growth on her shoulder. Gave me quite the scare as it was hard, so close to the bone and I was unable to move it. I at first thought she may have done something to the bone. I took her to the vet this morning and turns out it was just a cyst. A small surgery to remove it, a few stitches later, and 30 minutes after waking up she was back to being a puppy!

Une autre après-midi à jouer dans la neige des champs de Notre-Dame-de-l'Ile-Perrot avec Rubis.

Il faut avant tout s'assurer d'avoir une serviette avec soi.

Cette photo gagne à être vu dans son grand format.

======================

Another gorgeous afternoon, playing in the snowy fields of Notre-Dame-de-l’Ile-Perrot with Rubis.

As long as you make sure you bring a towel, you are ok…

This image is better when seeing in its larger format.

Georgie Girl is 10 lbs. and Gracie is 50 but Gracie lets Georgie have lots of privileges. I took over a wonderful squeaky toy for the puppy to play with, a squeak in every bite, but she wanted the Nylabone I brought for Gracie to chew.

Starting from the left Georgie noses it, then gets her head under it and then chomp, she's got it and Gracie lets her have it.

We are calling Gracie St. Gracie these days.

another long week, but no more seizures. still, we've had to lower morley's dose of phenobarbital due to lots of accidents in the house, but more significantly, ataxia -- loss of control in the hind end.

walking around like a drunken sailor, falling at every turn, flopping around ... just not good.

hard to tell whether this is all from the phenobarb or whether the brain tumor is advancing such that it's affecting his motor control. i'd love to start him on prednisone to at least try to shrink the tumor, but the little dude can't handle more side-effects right now.

he's also becoming blinder. my guess is he's barely got 10% of the one remaining eye. and his hearing, pfft ... forget about it.

he can still motor on his walks though ... he's got a new, hopping/rocking gait that seems to serve him well.

going to try to give him a bath today ... he won't like it, but it'll garner the stinky man more hugs and cuddles.

When Rosie, my wirehaired Dachshund, has to go to the vet, get a haircut, her nails trimmed, or just generally when we're out driving in the car together, I always drive her through Starbucks for a Puppuccino as a little reward. I have a dog that has trouble with her anal glands, she can't expel them herself so every month, I have to take her to get them expressed. I think that deserves a reward. After we were finished with that, here she is at the Starbucks window waiting for her Pup Cup. She was on my lap and her tail was going a mile a minute. I wish I could see her from the front because she's so cute here. You can almost see the excitement on her face from the back of her head. She's already forgotten what just happened to her. I just noticed that her collar matches their aprons exactly. She's in a car seat in the back when we're driving for safety, but I let her on my lap in the drive thru because she likes to watch them make her treat.

a real runner-up for the 52 Weeks for Dogs "red" challenge

"It's been quite a while since I taken you on one of my adventures so today this is my Little Things Post. FUN!

First is Gracie coming to meet us; Grace prefers to run on the soccer field but Mom wanted a photo/trail walk and so did Sandy. Gracie whined a lot but then she got in the spirit of the thing and started sniffing around. She's all about her nose.

Keep looking in the 5 comments below to see our adventure yesterday - it was a June Gloom blast!"

okay...let me explain the hot-pink lycra... i designed these throw-away vests ($3/each) for matea for the summertime...and hot pink was the only colored lycra i could find last spring. the vest is for visibility...so that i can see matea, and so that the mountain bikers can see her as well.

she'll also wear a bear bell when there are a lot of bikers, but i prefer the peace and quiet as long as i can into the spring.

Looks best on Black

So we have a busy schedule ahead of us these next few weeks so we are going to try to take our 52 weeks shots early in the week. We are in between dog shows, its crazy here in FL in January. Left a show site yesterday after a 4 day show and are now sitting at another that starts on Thursday and runs for 11 days (with a one day break halfway through). Hina is entered Friday & Saturday but we shall see how healed her incision looks before we decide to show. Its looking good so far.

I always love the Brooksville Circuit of shows as they have large fields to walk/run dogs in and a few large fenced areas for folks to let their dogs RUN!

This was taken late in the afternoon. f/4 - 1/8000 - ISO1250 - 28mm. Tips & suggestions are most welcome. =P

The NAVHDA acronym stands for the"Norths American Versatile Hunting Dog Association". This organization conducts natural ability tests to confirm the capabilities of versatile hunting dogs.

note the paperwork on the left there...a small chunk of my manuscript awaiting editing...thought i'd take my work outside this afternoon....kinda hard when i've got this fat schnoz poking me in the face.

Quite often these days Sox is too lazy to climb into his bed - he just plops down wherever he wants and falls asleep.

not a single foot on the ground! how's she do dat?

I'am a 6 n half year old Wirehaired Dachshund , who likes lots of TLC .. Loveable .

On the Plano Trabuco Trail for a Sunday walk and Benni was NOT interested in posing. She wanted to run loose with Gracie which isn't really safe out there with coyotes, mountain lions and the even more dangerous, Sunday mountain bikers.

i love this shot of matea. she looks like an advertisement for the breed. or at least for the hunting vest! :) i think i'll send this photo to K9topcoat and see if they want to use it.

That's right! Hina does this when you talk to her... Its like she is listening, HA!

Nah, Hina is a good girl and listens very well for a pup her age. The expression she gives when you talk to her is just too adorable, she looks like she is trying so hard to understand what you are saying!

I waited until the last minute this week, I got so busying editing pictures from last weekends photo shoots and event shots that I didn't have much time to take out the camera. Then of course when I plan to take pictures today the sky decides to fall down on us, all day long...

Decided to play with the colors on this to apply it to Pawsome's challenge for the month. ;o)

Wirehaired Pointing Griffon pup retrieving a turtle dove in Kansas

What this diminutive miniature wirehaired dachshund pup lacks in size, she makes up for in immense cuteness and a soft personality. This is one cute little fart in the mitt.

The German Wirehaired Pointer is listed #59 on the AKC list of most popular dog breeds

Prompt: A full body painting of a German Wirehaired pointer dog, standing on a grassy field with a blurred background. The dog has a short, brindle coat with a black saddle and white markings on its legs and chest. It is wearing a blue collar with a silver buckle. The dog's ears are floppy and its tail is docked. The lighting is natural. The dog is looking to the side, with a calm and alert expression --ar 5:4 --v 7

... she's really a lap dog ... and she's a lover of all. she placed herself in friend Michelle's lap ... she greedily accepts everything anyone is doling out, and always connects with the people she meets. she would make an absolutely phenomenal therapy dog -- treating everyone like her long-lost owner and -- with her eyes and her body -- truly making them feel special. instead, it's her scruffier, zanier brother, the goober, who is certified a therapy dog instead. why? because they have the ridiculous qualification that therapy dogs have to get along with other dogs. it's a shame really, because matea loves everyone she meets, wants to connect, and just wants other dogs to leave her alone.

as such, only a rare few truly experience this amazing girl and everything she gives.

the most touching part of the evening was when Michelle asked if matea had just had a bath. matea hasn't had a bath in months. "but she smells so good!" she said, using matea as a pillow on the couch ... "right here." and she showed me the same sweet spot on my girl's head where -- even at 11 years old -- she smells like a puppy. all these years, i thought i was the only one who smelled it.

This is Boris, the subject of my first "pet" shoot. Boris's shoot was actually last summer, but I'm at work (and will be all holiday weekend, since I'm on call... sigh) and for some reason I had this image stored on the computer at work, so I thought I'd post it.

Boris was a tough subject... energetic, fast and easily distracted. Still, his handler and I were able to get some decent shots in the end.

Taken with my Pentax K1000.

Hope you all enjoy your Labor Day weekend... think of me and all the animal emergencies I'll be seeing, and send some good vibes my way. And if you decided not to enjoy your Labor Day weekend, I'll have to come and kick you and beat you, because you have no idea how much I do not want to be on call this weekend. Sigh.

One shot in comments!
