Gracie was happy to wear the elf costume; she does everything in life with great gusto, and Benni was delighted to pass it on to her BFF. It's going to stay with Gracie, who even will wear the hat.
My wirehaired Dachshund Rosie. She makes me laugh every day. She also says "mama, give me back my ball".

Agility lesson. Dog training town. Wirehaired Jack Russell Terrier puppy walking on a hanging rope ladder.
Old dogs. I love 'm. This german pointer, wirehaired, 13 years of age. Still enjoying a stroll. Looking sharp with his keen brown eyes. Hunting wisdom reflected in grey.
Sporting Group: With his sporty weatherproof coat and can-do attitude, the noble German Wirehaired Pointer is a versatile, sturdy gundog who thrives on outdoor activity. Around the house, the GWP is an eager, affectionate, and amusing family companion. Standing as high as 26 inches at the shoulder, GWPs are a bit taller and heavier than their close relative, the German Shorthaired Pointer. GWPs are balanced, well muscled, resilient, agile, and generally built to beat the bushes all day long without tiring.
Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, Thelma and Louise, Ben and Jerry, and Gracie and Benni.
Friends make the world a happy place and these two are buddies, BFFs - every day they get together is a good day.
The hardworking Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, renowned as the 'supreme gundog, is known for the harsh, low-shedding coat the breed is named for. Outgoing, eager, and quick-witted, Griffs are incomparable in the field and loving at home.

matea sporting the new Ruffwear "cloud chaser" coat.
initial review: either it was colder out today than any other hike this winter (and last winter) or this coat doesn't battle the cold as well as her orange k9topcoat sport vest. she was shivering a lot more today than usual, although that didn't slow her down one bit ... and we're dealing with a -24 C windchill.
also: i'll have to do one minor adjustment on the garment ... it's too baggy around the belly and back end, which allows for a build up of ice balls which would irritate most dogs. matea's somewhat of a trooper. pleating in a little of the excess lycra in the belly area will fix this nicely though.
i was SO ready to give Ruffwear a full 10/10on this coat ... was very excited about it ... but given the high price of it and the fact that i'll have to do some adjusting, plus the chill factor, i'm giving it a 9/10. still, it's one of the top coats i've seen out there, and i still have a small one on order for morley. great allowance for motion, no snow gets into the coat (like most other winter coats), and NO one can beat Ruffwear's quality of material and craftsmanship. just wish it was a little warmer and the burrs didn't stick so well to the lycra chest and underbelly panels. but it's definitely A+ ... and i've gone through a lot of coats with this wild girl.
She is a standard wirehaired Dachshund, 6 months old now, and weighs 15 pounds. She will gain another 10 pounds before she is full-grown. Her color is known as "wild boar". She's getting so long. I just squeeze her so much that maybe that's what's making her longer. #reshapedbylove LOL
Loving the look of this interesting mix of German Shorthaired Pointer and German Wirehaired Pointer.
We won't get Benni and Gracie together till next week or the week after. Gracie really does need to get a little bigger to be able to play. Plus, there's a swimming pool over there and Benni is very likely to jump in so it's a little nervous to be in the back yard with her. She loves water!

My lovely, smiley girl. I don't know what I'd do without her :)
Sorry for missing last week. No excuses, just sort of happened that way.
by the way, this is the boy that is "highly" allergic to dogs. ;) ... always knew my girl was special.
So far I'm glad that I chose Gaga as my model this year. She's so ridiculously cute, I just can't help myself :P
photos later in the stream describe how this was just another strain of stupid genes destined to be extinguished.
it was a quick and humane death - as always with matea - and if i COULD have prevented it, i most certainly would have. in this case, the groundhog ran right into matea's awaiting jaws. (see subsequent photos)
so i had the not-so-pleasant task of skinning and gutting this guy... another 3 lbs in the freezer.

they're still like this now ...
This is the last one I will post from Doortje (or any other dog) for now, I promise.
But even then you may never know which dog I come across on the street......

Poor little Barclay. He gets blamed for all the messes and destruction in the house even though he really didn't do it. The poor little guy found Pearl, the cat, messing with my stuff and had to let me know he didn't do it. He tried to get Pearl to stop but gave up and came and got me so I could make Pearl stop. I guess Barclay is tired of being blamed for Pearl and Coco's shenanigans!! Look at that sweet face! Does he look like he would mess things up on purpose? I am now wise to the ways of Pearl and Coco!! Good boy Barclay!!
