Chateau Kromeriz in the winter.

I took this photo last winter with my older camera and for some reason I didn't upload it on Flickr. Today, I have found it, processed it and here it is :)

Moment captured on the Root River Parkway in Greendale, Wisconsin; USA.

Naked branches and twigs at the top of a tree, seen against a creamy white corrugated iron roof of an old heritage building.

I am glad to be back doing photography at Flickr after a tough year. Things went topsy-turvy I was retrenched in mid-2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown in South Australia. I'm starting with photographs around my workplace, at the spacious campus with lots of trees as well as old and new buildings.

Hesketh Park Southport

quite a privilege: to take the bus, drive 15 minutes, getting off the city and recovering inmidst the snowy trees and meadows of Wiesbadens forests

A bright, cold January day, and a short visit to nearby heathland.

I shot some general scenes which I will post that gives a "flavour" of the area in winter.

Winter afternoon on the South Downs, last week during a 1-1 workshop in West Sussex.

Please don't post your photos here nor GLITTERY IMAGES. They will be removed. Don't invite me to any group. I will not accept ;-)

After an overnight snowfall this past weekend I took the opportunity to capture some winter images before the sun and wind cleared the snow from the branches. I was drawn to this particular shot due to the natural abstract feel it conveys and the intrinsic contrast within the pattern throughout the image.

Thanks for viewing and have a great day!

winter is coming

I haven't uploaded to MAM in a long while. My muse for all conceptual photography had abandoned me. Last night, however, "doodling" in photoshop with a couple of pictures the idea for this image began to take shape and emerge. I puttered with a bit today. I took Flea into the yard and sorted out the selfie to add to the the other components that were more or less already sorted and then played a bit with the colours and tones to get to the final image here.

Many thanks to those popping in and dropping comments on the lastest magic donkey ride. As always, I am flattered and stunned by what makes it into explore.

And finally Winter, with its bitin', whinin' wind, and all the land will be mantled with snow.

The iconic peak of Olstind reflected in the waters of Gravdalsbukta in Reine.

This was a scene that continually changed as the clouds surrounding Mount Hood moved away. A ghost one moment, like this another, then gone again...

Ulver - Lost in The Dark Forest

They awaited the girl return

[But] she was lost in the dark forest

The snow had fallen like a blanket as far as the eye could see

On the road home

Her only friend..

If she only could

Follow the road of the stars

But she was lost

Among the dark trees

The Forest's dark arms embraced it self over the unknown guest

Reminded her of her biggest fright

That the mountain king thirsts for Christian blood

Those underground:

"Somone closes silently

A sorrowful girl

She is sitting there with folded hands

She is sending a prayer to the heavenly realm"

Over her head

It's dripping from a branch

Drop, by drop like the blood

[Of the body] from Jesus christ

The girl:

Aa, alone in a scary forest

I feel that tonight

Tonight no one thinks of me

Winter bare, rising tall

Covered in snow that did fall

Waiting for the returning light

To melt the cold heart of frozen white

That clings to the wood, invades the ground

On which it had fallen without a sound

dry leaves everywhere.. at Ilsan lake

Winter light and shadows at the Isabel.

Just a simple winter scene at the edge of a frosted embankment.

The Heron suffers badly in cold winters when ponds and streams are frozen for prolonged periods. The recent run of mild weathers has apparently helped boost the population. In or near water, they are often standing motionless with their head in their shoulders or feeding alone. Juveniles are darker with much less white and lack the long crest plumes. British herons are mostly sedentary, but some do migrate to Ireland and the near-continent, such as France and Holland. In the winter, northern European Grey Herons arrive in eastern Britain, especially along the coast.

Two more images to give a flavour of what the heathland looks like in the winter months.

Happy Christmas! С Рождеством Христовым!

The winter solstice was a very cold day, but still and lovely for a walk in the snow. This path leads us right up to our house.

The name of the lake is Mjörn
