Trees in Horseshoe Thicket, Walthamstow Marshes.

Winter and loneliness sometimes go together, don't they? Here is a lonely look from the For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum, Burton, MI, January, 2024.

Asiago Plateau - winter without snow

I definitely don't accept winter! .-)

Bokeh Wednesday

I haven't seen many of these beautiful birds around this winter. It was nice to see one in the maple tree so I took this photo out of the kitchen window.

Thanks for viewing and commenting everyone ..

Upper Bavaria in Winter: Slideshow on Black

Around home we've not had had much winter weather this year - this is a picture of local woodland in the last snow we had.

A winter's view of the Swiss alps. I took this photo from the Emmental where the famous cheese with huge holes is coming from. By the way, there is a cheese dairy close to this place where you can watch them making the Emmental cheese.

Affoltern, Emmental

With hoarfrost covered branches in a foggy and glittering winter forest

The last shot from this photo-walk across the snow covered fields near my Village Sistrans. My fingers were already completely numb from the cold, when operating the camera. Before I headed back home, I found this nice little sculpture, formed by the snow and wind, wich gave a additional foreground element for this evening winter wonderland.

Focus stack.

In last days we had a little snow here, so I thought I'd show you :) Today temperature is already above zero and all the snow has melted...

Ostatnio u nas trochę pośnieżyło, więc pstryknęłam kilka zdjęć, co by go pokazać :) A dzisiaj temperatura już na plusie i nic z tego śniegu nie zostało...

On a frosty winter morning the trees beside the river were covered with an enchantment of ice.

It’s probably Magnolia x Soulangeana. This is a hybrid magnolia, bred to bloom in winter. This specimen is especially deep pink….many pictures I’ve seen of others show a lot more white, along with a paler pink.

"Winter teaches us that even the coldest days can lead to beautiful transformations." - Unknown. While hubby was taking great shots of the waterfall with his wide angle lens, I focused on the transformations along the edges of the waterfall with my long lens. It was a very cold day after a fresh snowfall. Some trees were blanketed in layers of fluffy white snow. Others were encased in frosty ice from the mist of the roaring water flowing down. Then there were the trees that soaked up the morning sun to keep their needles dry. I was toasty warm with my winter gear including my new heated glove liners that work beautifully for this kind of cold weather photography.

Winnebago River - Leland

This is our current north Iowa landscape along the Winnebago River. The low sun gives it a warm ambience, but with frozen ice and snow on the river surface.

The afternoon temperatures with sunlight reached about 30 degrees, but the very strong northwest wind of 25 to 35 mph gave it a very chilly feeling to say the least!

When winter unfurls its icy embrace, the world transforms into a wonderland of ethereal beauty. The landscape, once adorned in the lush hues of autumn, now dons a pristine white coat, as delicate snowflakes blanket the earth like nature's own embroidery. Trees stand adorned with glistening icicles, and the ground sparkles under the soft glow of moonlight. Silence descends, broken only by the crisp crunch of snow underfoot. The air is crisp and clean, carrying the invigorating scent of pine and the promise of new beginnings. Winter, a painter with a frosty palette, transforms the familiar into a realm of enchantment, where each snow-covered branch, each glistening frost-kissed surface, whispers tales of magic and quiet marvels. In this winter wonderland, nature reveals itself as a master storyteller, captivating hearts with its frozen tapestry and inviting all to revel in the breathtaking allure of the season.

We still await any significant snow fall this season. Meanwhile the ground grows cold and hard.

Received a f1.8 / 50mm lens as a birthday gift recently. Like a whole world has opened before my eyes.

Wish all my Flickr friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2024. Thanks for all your kind comments and faves over the past year. They are much appreciated…

A cold and frosty morning with some winter sun shining through the trees.

can be beautiful....

Along the McNaughton Trail where I look for White Squirrels. You can see how it is a challenge to find them! Sometimes I see something white in a tree that I think is a squirrel and it ends up being a a clump of snow! But, when I find a White Squirrel it is such a thrill!!
