National Trust, Dyffryn Gardens. I was fascinated by this splash of winter colour and spent a happy hour in this area of the gardens,.
The granite tors of Dartmoor surrounded by a blanket of snow as the sun sets in the South West on a cold January afternoon.

When we are at home in Northamptonshire I normally take our little Yorkie for a walk around our neighbouring village's green. This morning, it was very misty and the trees in the countryside between Isham and Orlingbury were looking particularly eerie as they peered out from the mist.

Last night, I managed to get to Phipps Conservatory here in Pittsburgh for their Winter Flower Show and Light Garden.
It's becoming a holiday tradition for my family and with all of the holiday activities including work and CoVid, I was not sure I would be able to get to it this year.
So glad I did ... Just wished I had taken my 14-24mm lense as well.
Happy New Year to all of my Flickr friends. Wishing each of you a safe, healthy and prosperous 2022!

This is an image I probably would not have taken 12 months ago. It is only since meeting up with Geoff Moore that we have managed to get to these locations.
There is a lot to be said for someone, who when I e-mail him with a hair brained scheme, to drive to North wales, climb half way up a mountain in the dark and snow, just to take a photo of a tree. Instead of the normal expletives and questions about my sanity, his normal response is great, what time are we going. I did toy with calling this shot Geoff's tree, but it probably already has a name.
While the east coast seems to be experiencing an early spring, we're still "enjoying" our typical cold, gray and rainy winter here in the PNW, with no apparent end in sight. Here is an image taken earlier this winter on a morning wander through our arboretum.

Winter In Scotland
One from the start of the year in one of those brief spells of winter weather and snow we had. This is an old shed in the hills not far from the village of Leadhills in Southern Lanrarkshire, which seems to double up as a pigeon loft, look closely and you will see one of its occupants at the purpose made entrance above the door.

In the nature park, the winter sun beams through the trees on a gentle partly frozen curve of the Big Walnut.
Winter beauty. A new Mercedes-Benz photographed in Örebro (Sweden) in January 1966. My restoration and partial digital hand colorization of an Örebro Kuriren newspaper photographer´s image in the Örebro Läns Museum archive (digitaltmuseum.se).
I love when we get our first snow before freeze up, and ponds are not yet iced over. Calm reflections in water that otherwise looks black.

"The light in winter is most varied; there are days when it's clear and bright, carving the earth into light and shadow like a razor. Yet, at times, the light can be soft and quiet as a whisper, with color of the most intense chromatic variations anyone could ever need."

Today was a glorious winter day. Too good to spend time inside, but too cold to stay outside too long. The windchill factor was frrrrrreeeeezing!
Have a good week ahead everyone and thank you all for stopping by :-)
