Winter and loneliness sometimes go together, don't they? Here is a lonely look from the For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum, Burton, MI, January, 2024.
Beautiful, but oh so cold.....

Around home we've not had had much winter weather this year - this is a picture of local woodland in the last snow we had.
A winter's view of the Swiss alps. I took this photo from the Emmental where the famous cheese with huge holes is coming from. By the way, there is a cheese dairy close to this place where you can watch them making the Emmental cheese.
Affoltern, Emmental
The last shot from this photo-walk across the snow covered fields near my Village Sistrans. My fingers were already completely numb from the cold, when operating the camera. Before I headed back home, I found this nice little sculpture, formed by the snow and wind, wich gave a additional foreground element for this evening winter wonderland.

Leonardo's interpretation of Cooper_BB's Prompt.
Two adorable birds in winter hats, cuddling and nestled together on the edge of an intricate nest with snow-covered trees and red berries in the background. The focus is on their faces, in the style of an oil painting with a cartoon mise-en-scène, a fairy core color palette, and a dreamy, hyper-realistic scene with eye-catching detail.
Thanks Bruce.
It’s probably Magnolia x Soulangeana. This is a hybrid magnolia, bred to bloom in winter. This specimen is especially deep pink….many pictures I’ve seen of others show a lot more white, along with a paler pink.

"Winter teaches us that even the coldest days can lead to beautiful transformations." - Unknown. While hubby was taking great shots of the waterfall with his wide angle lens, I focused on the transformations along the edges of the waterfall with my long lens. It was a very cold day after a fresh snowfall. Some trees were blanketed in layers of fluffy white snow. Others were encased in frosty ice from the mist of the roaring water flowing down. Then there were the trees that soaked up the morning sun to keep their needles dry. I was toasty warm with my winter gear including my new heated glove liners that work beautifully for this kind of cold weather photography.
by walking along the river Seille near Marly - Lorraine - France -
Par une belle journée d'hiver en me promenant le long de la Seille près de Marly.
We still await any significant snow fall this season. Meanwhile the ground grows cold and hard.
Received a f1.8 / 50mm lens as a birthday gift recently. Like a whole world has opened before my eyes.
Early morning sun glints off Chessie 4361 on a CSX NB approaching Plymouth, Michigan, here passing under the distant I-275 bridge in January 1986.
As a early snow fall blankets Iowa, CP 475 heads north near Pleasant Creek on the Canadian Pacific's Marquette Subdivision.
Along the McNaughton Trail where I look for White Squirrels. You can see how it is a challenge to find them! Sometimes I see something white in a tree that I think is a squirrel and it ends up being a a clump of snow! But, when I find a White Squirrel it is such a thrill!!

Something to think about on a cold winter night. ** How do you have a Cafe open upstairs and a Bar downstairs in a one story building **
Unless of course you put the sign on the wrong building and since Redds is in Belle Vernon, even the wrong town.
Winter has arrived even to the South of Sweden. Gorgeous colors with this magical orange light that sets just before the night arrives and total darkness.
It's hard when most of the days are dark but we all know that soon the days will be longer again and we can enjoy minute by minute of these longer days.
Until then we have to enjoy these small moments of golden hours.....
Happy Sunday all!
