Duval County Property Appraiser Jerry Holland says that the building is from 1942 but I have got a feeling in my bowels that this part of the building is AN ADDITION FROM SOMETIME LATER.

This house is currently being knocked down and I couldn't resist a shot.

I'm guessing the land is being redeveloped rather than there being some kind of problem with the house as it looked like it was a really lovely, relatively modern house. As it currently stands all of the windows are open and there is still plenty of furniture inside with paintings having been thrown on the ground outside. It's kind of sad to think that at one point in time this was somebody's home.

Cactus can be so much more challenging to photograph than "regular" plants; they lack the branches and leaves that allow creative patterns and shapes that other plants have. However, this cactus was pretending to be part of the greenhouse window frame, and I thought that was quite fun.

Without a flash you could see nothing in this room other than the light pouring in from around the window. By turning the ISO all the way up and turning the shutterspeed way down (for handheld) you can see this level of detail.

Renovations - Old window Frame

The view out of my window. On one hand, it's utterly urban bleak: the decaying cinderblock garages of two different neighbors, with a narrow, often debris-strewn, alleyway, keeping much light from getting into my house.

On the other hand, it has certain charms if you look long enough: weed-trees that grow berries which attract birds and occasionally even entire raccoon families. A collection of moss that in warmer, wetter weather is a lovely, luxurious carpet of plush green. And in full winter, the cement blocks collect snow in beautiful, transforming patterns.
