More in the wild west theme from Wangara. A pointed example of beauty and nature persisting in even the most harsh environments. I like the framing in this shot and arid landscape.

I wish all my Flicker friends and contacts a peaceful and happy new year. Thank you also for more than 28m views.

Natural light and full frame.

"Tokyo Port Wild Bird Park" is a kind of sanctuary. A small natural area near Haneda airport, with a lake in the middle, is a place for visit of many kinds of birds.

Those of you with those huge lenses will probably find this to be a great spot.

I shot this one from an "observation spot" in the park, with my modest 70-300.

I was waiting for some birds in flight to try to shoot some action, and this one came strolling. A graceful stroll it was!

Of course it was far from filling the frame, but as they say, cropping is the poor man's zooming!

I do not know what kind of grass this but on its own, I think the weed is beautiful.

There's a whole field full here... all different colors !

This wild rose is often found in hedgerows around the UK.

Always a treat to find.

Unfortunately its common name here is 'dog rose', not very flattering for such a beautiful wild flower.

Freezing a lively, candid moment of enjoyment and activity on the river conveying the energy and atmosphere of the scene and making the viewer feel more engaged and part of the action.

Four young Nubian boys on stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) or surfboards in a river, acting as the main subjects. Their off-center placement creates a balanced, yet dynamic, feel.

Nature is viewed as a true home, offering more than what is consciously sought. The appeal of the wild and free is celebrated.

The river's flow and the arrangement of the boards create implied lines that guide the viewer's eye through the frame and toward the main subjects. The image uses multiple layers to create depth.

The water and foreground rocks establish the immediate foreground, the boys form the midground, and the lush, tall reeds and large rock formations create a dense background that fills the frame. The natural elements like reeds serve as a frame within a frame.

The image is rich in a natural color palette, dominated by the cool blues of the water, the greens of the abundant vegetation, and the earthy tones of the rocks. The colors are vibrant and well-saturated, contributing to an energetic and lively mood.

The combination of the active subjects, the movement of the water, the bright lighting, and the vibrant colors creates an overall mood that is active, energetic, and joyous. The image captures a specific moment in time, suggesting spontaneity and connection with nature.

Taken from a low, slightly elevated angle on the River Nile in Aswan near the water level, which emphasizes the boys' relationship with their environment.

I drove all the way to Magoebaskloof to photograph flowers because it was overcast and the conditions were ideal. At my arrival, however, it started raining so heavily that I had to return home with only this one picture.

Photographed at the Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt in northeastern Polk County, Iowa.

Growing next to Rosa canina, but different. The leaves are not glossy and the flowers are a more intense pink. I need to get photos of the thorns and a close up of the leaves.

“By discovering nature, you discover yourself.” -Maxine Lagace’

Embracing your wild doesn’t necessarily mean being loud, partying, or doing extreme things. To me, it means realizing deeply how much I need nature and how important it is overall. It means accepting myself for everything that I am, including the dark and savage parts. It means being a bit feral when it comes to being around other people and feeling most at peace when I’m alone (or with Mike), especially at home or in the wilderness. It means feeling my best when I have dirt on my feet, wind blown hair, and skin kissed by the sun. It means having a connection to animals that I struggle with when it comes to humans. It’s that part of me that’s still a child, happy and carefree, running through the forest and fields, climbing trees and getting dirty. For me, embracing my wild means keeping that wild child part of me alive.

This patch of daisies is growing in the field behind our house and I’ve really delighted in seeing it out there.

Displaying away in the park, totally failing to interest the hens. Davis is full of wild turkeys, they've moved into town, and have no problem hanging out in the parks or blocking traffic.
