a small group of elephants is slowly moving through the thick bushes towards the waterhole.
To me, this scene is like a postcard from Addo...

A wild bee splashing about in the pollen! "I'm sure I left it in here!!
Una abeja chapoteando en la polen! "Estoy seguro que lo dejé aquí!!"
We watched this little dog swimming after a duck it fancied for lunch. The dog was swimming faster until it got close enough and the duck took flight. As it happened we were also on a wild goose chase trying to visit an ancient and beautiful building with its doors locked in Estella, Spain. Thanks for visiting and especially commenting. I will be a bit busy the next few days but normal activity will be resumed. :)
Felis Sylvestris -- Although they look a little like a tabby these wild cats are related to the lynx - they have a bushy blunt ended tail with black rings that distinguishes them from domestic varieties.
This was taken at the British Wildlife Centre, they are now close to extinction in the UK and only live in the Scottish highlands.
Together with my son I spent a week on my favorit Dutch island called Ameland. Apparently a large population of wild rabbits are living on this island and since they are used to human presence they are relatively easy to approach.
Grows along roadsides, and I'm told a part of the plant is edible. Since radish isn't a favorite, I haven't tried it, and probably won't. :o)
A beautiful wild Deer pops up from the bank to see who is about. This Deer I saw right at the top of the Scottish Highlands not too far from beautiful Durness at Lairg.
These two wild horses are part of a small herd that roams the very dry desert area in and around Shoshone, California. Shoshone is located near the eastern borders of Death Valley.
The wild iris have been beautiful this year. This patch had just opened and the edges were still nice and the colors were so vibrant and beautiful.
These particular flowers are a favorite of mine, they were also a favorite of mine sweetest Grandmom. There were always some wild "flags" growing at every stock ponds on the summer pasture. They would also grow near the springs or any naturally wet area. My Grandmom would dig them up and plant them on the ditch back near her yard. So every spring when I see this beautiful flower I think of her.
Thanks for looking at my photostream and leaving comments if you have.

White wine, Parmesan cheese, and fresh thyme fill the rice with rich flavor, and its creamy texture contrasts beautifully with the crispy, meaty mushrooms. Top it off with fresh parsley and extra cheese for an elegant main dish.

This male was proudly displaying to me. I didn't see any females around so perhaps he was just practicing. ;)
Este guajolote silvestre macho orgullosamente se pavoneaba pero no se veía ninguna hembra en el área. A lo mejor sólo practicaba su actuación. ;)

Beautiful white wild horse taking in the rural country southwestern Colorado landscape. There was a nice heard hanging out by the water hole out in the western countryside.

Power of Dungeness
It is not the nuclear power station - it is the light. It embues the landscape with a clarity that enriches the colour. It makes the deserted somehow a thing of dignity. It makes the humble wildflowers gems of colour.
For those that visited the old lighthouse tower I posted before - apologises. I include it here as it dominates the landscape - a thing of elegance and grace and power.
Nora Wild, born as Lady Elonora Weathley-Huntington of Dorncastle, was one of the most popular girls among the ranks of nobility. Her parents, ambitiously trying to marry her to the pince of Kolbergen, failed to notice young Elonoras growing interest in steam car racing. At the soft age of 19 she fell in love with the successful race car driver Oscar Wilde and shortly after they got married secretly. Being trained by her secret husband, Elonora soon started her own career as a steam car driver. Despite diguising herself and taking up the nickname Nora Wild, her escapades were soon noticed by her parents and the rest of the nobility. Refusing to end her career and unwilling to divorce her husband, she was expelled from the ranks of nobility in a never before seen inofficial trial. The following years Nora spent becoming the most famous steam car driver of the known world. As time went by there was only one opponent left, who, obviously, was her husband Oscar. They faced off in a one to one race in the newly built sky city racing drome. After an almost two hours long, head to head race, both of them were on their final lap. Oscar, having always been known for driving economical, saving as much fuel and tyre profil as possible, was much better off at that point and would have won the race, if his car, never before showing any technical problems, wouldn’t have catched fire shortly before reaching the last turn. Blinded by smoke and flames, Oscar lost control of his vehicle, leaving the track, somersaulting several times and finally crashing into a solid brickwall. His body was later recovered from the wreck, however the cause of his death couldn’t be speified, due to the numerous injuries and severe burnings. Nora however, took over at that exact point, finishing the race in first place. When she was told about her husbands death right on the winner’s podium, she didn’t even stop smiling and continued celebrating her success. After the race was investigated, experts demanded the removal of Nora‘s trophy, since sabotage was suspected. Nora tried everything to keep it and become known as the best race driver ever. Eventually she was allowed to keep the controversial trophy. Still, she rather was known as a saboteur and criminal, blinded by success afterwards. Promotion contracts were refused and her wealth and glory faded with every year. Nora Wild spent the later years of her tragic life, driving around the streets in a small steam cycle, scaring pedestrians and trying to establish herself in the street racing scene. However, she never reached her old status ever again and eventually died after an extreme car chase with the police, crashing her steam cycle into a brick wall after somersaulting several times. This incident was viewed as her divine judgement by most people, since it bore an interesting resemblance to her husbands death. Her death was only marginally mentioned in the newspapers though, since by that time the public interest had shiftet from race car driving onto steam plane races.

The character portrait for the steam cycle driver.
The steam cycle is my entry for VehiJuly and was featured in my recent vignette "The age of steam".
I put quite some effort into the describtion, I hope you enjoy it !
This was the last photograph I was looking at before I fell asleep last night, which may be why it is dark rather than bright and sunny. I might create a bright and sunny version sometime, but I quite like the detail and slightly impressionistic feel to this one :)
A big, big thank you to all my Flickr friends for their kind comments, emails, and support. It's really helping me get through the stress-related illness that has laid me low since the end of June :)

Taken in Eureka, CA, USA. I usually find these birds to be shyer than their cousins, but this one was a bit more comfortable with my presence. Watched it eat up close for maybe ten minutes until it took off.
