When we got to this lake and saw the reflection we knew we hit the jackpot. Such an incredible place. I had some trouble stitching this pano together, it was suppose to be 20 shots total, but the top row wasn't working out to well so this is just the bottom row. After shooting for a bit, Natalia and I decided to leave our cameras timelapsing while we went back to warm up in our cars. After 2 hours I went back to find I only got 17 shots before the lens fogged over! Whoops :) So we went to sleep so we could wake up for sunrise here. No clouds but the light hitting the peak and the reflection were just fine!

the sky doesn't snow, rather the moisture in the air crystallizes. It can happen even on a sunny (cold) day. The ice crystals form in the atmosphere and float about until they find something they can latch on too....a covalent bond. In this case they bond with an old grand-dad ponderosa pine.

When I saw this sunset I thought I could be in Africa on a safari. It was absolutely beautiful! I could imagine elephants and giraffes basking in the sun.

when I look in the mirror I sometimes think that I'm too old to be doing self portraits and often ask myself when should I stop. How do you know when to stop?
I know for a fact I'm not a model, I don't look like one nor do I have the body of one so perhaps I shouldn't worry about when I should stop doing self portraits. Perhaps one day someone will come on my stream and just say "ugh you need to stop doing sp's lovely" and maybe that will be the day when I sit up and listen. In all honesty though I'll probably tell them to piss off!!!!!
Off to put my feet up in front of the coal fire as I have yet another cold coming on. I hate winter.
Wish nice two relaxing days. I am heading to my grandparents and relax (my eyes) from a long exhausting week at the screen.
Hey Mat & L. (&. T?): Wish you excellent light for sunday. :-)

If he loved you
Like I love you
I would walk away in shame
I'd move town, I'd change my name
When he watches you
When he counts to buy your soul
On your hand his golden rings
Like he owns a bird that sings
When we dance, angels will run and hide their wings....
"..When you know that you know who you love, you can't deny it.
Or go back, or give up, or pretend that you don't buy it.
When it's clear this time you've found the one, you'll never let him go
Cos you know and you know that you know.."
-- from the song 'when you know'
When I travel in fantasy,
the mind finally free,
Begins exploring the space
among the multiverse
discovering passages and
and mysteries hidden to closed eyes
New fantastic worlds
Where everything seems possible
Where all is harmony
Known objects
Seem to have a dimension of their own
And coexist with the inverse of proportion
This is what my
Mind sees when I leave
Guidance to the imagination...

when you have sleep in your eyes
and your hair is a mess
and you roll out of bed
and you glance in the mirror
and you see yourself
or part of yourself
that's what makes you cry

Back when the UK still had a large coal mining industry two BR large logo liveried 56's are seen at York North Yard. Recently arrived Gateshead 56 128 with another load of power station coal from the Co.Durham coalfield is about to hand over to Sheffield Tinsley allocated 56 103 for the remainder of the journey to one of the Aire Valley power stations in Yorkshire.
...when evil is right beside you... lol. No time to compose a proper Halloween image, so have managed to improvise, with all credit to Picnik tools! :-)
When I arrived at the beach about an hour before sunrise to take in the pretty blue hour along the Maryland shore ... when I went to set my tripod up near these rocks I noticed a smaller rock moving there in the dark ... it was a horseshoe crab that was on its back, with its legs all moving about.
So before the sun even was up for the day and did my good deed for the day and turned the large crab over.
It went in a circle at first ... and I as I set up my tripod for a capture ... it made a turn and ended up running into one of the legs. Had to re-shoot that capture as it bumped the tripod during the longer exposure.
It then went between the legs and started its trek back to the sea. It did that during my next capture here and you can see the path it took there in the sand.
because you've growled all day long :-)

The air was neither night nor day,
an ever-eve of gloaming light,
when first there glimmered into sight
the Little House of Play.
New-built it was, yet very old,
white, and thatched with straws of gold,
and pierced with peeping lattices
that looked toward the sea;
and our own children's garden-plots
were there: our own forgetmenots,
red daisies, cress and mustard,
and radishes for tea.

When attending my first Great Central Railway (GCR) Winter Steam Gala in January 2010, my visit also allowed access to their Loughborough Motive Power Depot and Locomotive Workshops.
Then, pictured above, LMSR Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 No 45305 was still undergoing its latest major overhaul - still with its boiler removed. It successfully returned to service nine months later in October 2010.
5305 was built by Armstrong-Whitworth of Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1936 and survived to the last month of steam of British Railways[BR] (then numbered 45305) in August 1968. It was then sold to scrap merchants Albert Draper and Sons of Hull, who broke up 742 former BR locomotives. 45305 was to have been their 743rd and last but the scrapyard owner Albert Draper decided to save one of the yard's locos for posterity and have it restored to full running order. 45305 was chosen simply because it was the cleanest!
It's still like it now!
45305 is still owned by the Draper Family, but is now cared for by the 5305 Locomotive Association with GCR being its heritage railway base.
This collage is another fine example showing the considerable amount of excellent work undertaken by the highly skilled team between the January 2010 and October 2021.
When pictured bottom on Saturday 23rd October 2021, despite the inclement weather, this then 'Resplendent Locomotive' certainly brightened up the gloom when entering Rothley with the Ex 11.15am Loughborough Central to Leicester North passenger service during its last weekend working before its latest withdrawal.
I very much hope I will see this fine locomotive run once again during my lifetime!
When you go decide a beach location for your vacations you usually want sunny weather to lay on the beach and enjoy the sun. Even if I love that, I really enjoyed the first couple of vacation days at Sitges, when the weather was not that good and the only thing to do was to walk, and enjoy the sea views.
The name of the photograph has been taken from a piece of one of the best groups I've known in recent years, Bliss. A warm muted trumpet and smooth textured sounds behind wrap you and I thought this photograph pretty much reflects my feelings about the song.
