We spent the morning trying to get our first set of shade posts to
align well. After some clamping and screaming we managed to get
something within reason and I did a few tack welds to hold it together
long enough to grind off the paint in the weld zone.

I could do these welds in manual, semi-auto and fully automatic configuration with similar results. Grinding and polishing times were greatly reduced while I was employed at the company.

The spot weld has popped open and the bent metal support behind the two allen headed bolts has split. Of course in the last 25 odd years these bolts are now fused so solid that they will distort the frame rather than let go.....
Sooooo lets just weld it up solid and hope that a little bit of reglage at the handle end will let the door open and close as before.
Happly the prince of reglage is due to visit....
