look at the tack weld on the left part. that should kinda sum up what my experience with this has been... a lot of popping and it all tends to look like its contaminated even though I've gone as far as to clean the metal and work surface with acetone.
All links have CNC machine inserts that are tig welded on both link ends with your choice of 1-1/4-12 and 3/4-16 threaded inserts. Links are heat treated after welding and never before, critical for welding strength and durability.

I'm 6'2". Many counter tops are too short for me to work on comfortably. Almost all pharmacies I worked at simply set the keyboard on the counter, with no regard for repetitive stress injury.
I built this little stand to elevate the keyboard to a more ergonomically reasonable height. This would have been in about 1995 or so.
One of our guys doing some hot work , Just thought it would be nice to capture them at work :)

I could do these welds in manual, semi-auto and fully automatic configuration with similar results. Grinding and polishing times were greatly reduced while I was employed at the company.
