I got hold of some welding glass so this was more a test of if I can restore the colour and get rid of the green tint to everything from the glass.
During my lunch break I "securely" attached the welding glass to my lens with 2 x elastic bands (really should have taken a photo of the setup) and snapped away, figured it would be rude not to include myself in ghost form since I had 1 min to play with :D
I think that I have got the processing pretty sorted as far as restoring the colour goes (I know the sky is totally blown out but that wasn't the point of this shot) so time to find some more interesting things to shoot with it now........................

Friction Stir Welding was invented by Wayne Thomas at TWI Ltd in 1991 and overcomes many of the problems associated with traditional joining techniques. Friction Stir Welding is a solid state process which produces welds of high quality in difficult to weld materials such as aluminium and is fast becoming the process of choice for manufacturing light weight transport structures such as boats, trains and aeroplanes.

QB Fabrication and Welding is making the frames for the solar panels on Oregon's Solar Highway demonstration project.
Methuen Construction (a bit of a misnomer; they are two towns away in Plaistow NH) is a construction company. Some UMass Lowell students (I was one of them) took a tour of this company. This photo shows welding. I took three welding photos, but the other two aren't uploaded here because they have people in them.
These girls danced to some techno music and wielded their, er, welding machines and letting sparks fly in tune (or to their credit a best attempt) with the music.
Wendy stepped on her sunglasses snapping the nose bridge and rendering the glasses unwearable. Rather than give up on them we decided to try and mend them using acetone (found in some nail polish removers). They welded together enough to handle. I'm not sure that this will last, but it beats the mess of working with gorilla glue.

i used a queen bed frame becasue it was available and steel prices are going up. One afternoon for this handy space saving device. construction planning was rather a challenge so i would still have access to all the mig compartments and not void a warrenty. it has its own air regulator. It now has and a "common" plug and common ground for the different components. in the future would like to also have a place to hang an angle grinder. a real one stop shop.

The seat stay junction at the seat tube was one of the most acute angles I've had to weld to date. A good challenge and put the skills to the test.
