First attempt to do some welding. The most complicated part was actually to get the angles cut correctly .. manually. Next time I build myself a tool for that.
The welding was not soo super good (in fact, the voltage was too high at first, so I made some holes) but filling and grinding makes it look ok in the end ;)
This will be the base for a something like a candleholder or so .. next weekend.
This is just the result of me testing out my new welder. About 15 secs worth of "welding" (Obviously, I have no idea what I'm doing.)
Whilst at the Royal Norfolk Show, I spotted the stall of a welding company who were demonstrating their new plasma torch to customers.
You were able to cut a section out of an old digger bucket.
In order to have a go, and not have to buy the dam thing I took this photo of the welder for the owner. Hope you like it Stuart.

Just a test video. Going to hopefully put together a short soon. First real experiment with video. Already fun.
First little play with my £2 ND10 filter made out of welding glass. Not very interesting composition (just the view out of my front room), but I am quite impressed with the IQ, a few spots to clone out but otherwise pretty good. The shots come out extremely green, but easily sorted with white balance in PS. This was 25" @ f14, need to try some longer exposures
About 3/4 of the way across the Weld River were some colourful rocks just below the surface with few reflections from the bright sky.
Welding is a fabrication process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by causing coalescence. This is often done by melting the workpieces and adding a filler material to form a pool of molten material (the weld puddle) that cools to become a strong joint, with pressure sometimes used in conjunction with heat, or by itself, to produce the weld. My work provided me with a week of welding training. Seems fair since I sit at a computer and stare at weld prints and simulate welding all day long at my job. My work thought that it would be a good idea for me to understand why certain things are how they are (like torch angles, why certain things have to be welded different ways, etc.). The training was a 40 hour class at the Front Range Community College right here in town. It was an incredible shop. In this picture, the tables on the left are oxy-acetylene torches, which can pierce through a inch of steel quicker than I can cut a piece of bread. The red machines in front of that are the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welders, and behind those, the MIG (Metal inert Gas) welders - all along the back wall (in the next image).

These are the clothes my mom gave me to wear while welding. Nothing says "welder" like tapered leg slacks, an embroidered shirt and cowboy boots. All I asked for was long sleeves, long pants and leather shoes. I'll be more specific in the future.
