So, here we are the start o the 5th week. Belle’s final litter is growing so rapidly that their requirements for food are beyond what Belle has the ability to produce. She is becoming more reluctant to produce, and avoids them by jumping up on the couch or outside of the puppy pen to escape their erupting teeth. If confined, she does not lie down any longer, but moves so they must nurse standing up, but not for long. After a few minutes she leaves, with puppies yipping as they stubbornly follow after her for more.
Tonight was their first bath. Toenail trim yes, but not eye guard trim. Not just yet. They are not there just yet and their first “grooming” imprint must be a good one. Hello 5 weeks!
I was all set to get my pic for this week today and then my car broke down :( I like to use personal pics that I take for the 52 Project but due to life being crazy like it is....Here are a couple of my favs from a session I recently did....not my normal thing in a portrait session but I stayed a bit longer to get this dramatic shot.
The pastor of my cowboy church in Florida preached yesterday about how we view the scene where Jesus was born - a cozy little stable with a soft bed of hay in a manger. He put it in a more realistic perspective though, explaining that all those years ago they might not have had cozy little barns and nice mangers like we do today. The barn very well could have been like a cave type place, with clay floors and walls, and the manger was possibly just a dug out spot in the floor - cold and damp. The lighting was probably only a candle or a torch. The barn, or stable, was probably smelly from all the animals and possibly had rats and feces everywhere. The hay might have been more like straw and not the fine farmed hay that we have today. This really opened my eyes up to what it might have really been like - that Mary and Joseph didn't have the BEST accommodations to have a child, most probably not like a sterile hospital that people have babies in today. If they could make do back in their day, we surely could do with a lot less nowadays. The world has gotten so materialistic and focused on money. Imagine roughing it, like Mary and Joseph did, and delivering a child in a cold, damp, dark, dirty place. We're spoiled! Thank you, Jesus, for providing us with all the opportunities and provisions we have today. Please keep me from taking it for granted and always remind me of the fact that you suffered on the cross for me. Amen
This is an image of the painted water pipes in the Keppel building (A Taste of Urban Exploration). The image was processed in PS using a radial blur filter to create the feeling of motion.
This happy little man loves tease and has borrowed (?) his uncle's sunglasses. His laughter was priceless as he looked up at the sun dropping behind the trees while Uncle Tim tried to retrieve his sunnies.
The purpose of the Book Week Celebration is to encourage students to become readers through fun and engaging activities that motivates students to appreciate the different kinds of literature the world has to offer - from epic novels to simple newspaper comics. A child who reads will become an creative adult who thinks.
To kick off the opening of the SFAMSC Book Week is a mini parade where the preschool, grade school, and some intermediate and high school student wear their costumes of their favourite literary and comic characters. The kids are given a treat as they accompanied by the much beloved children’s book character Geronimo Stilton at the end of the parade! Also, the students with the most memorable and interesting costumes are given awards for the costumes cleverness and creativity.
After the parade, the students are directed to assigned classrooms where they will have their big book story telling (high school students tell stories to the preschool and grade school kids), film watching, and slogan and poster making activities.
I started to use the crop tool to centre the sports car and to remove all the unneeded dead space at the bottom of the screen. Secondly I used the blur tool to create depth of field and just have the car in focus. Thirdly I used the levels tool and had it at 39-1.13-255. The forth step is the colour balance tool to add a more blue overlay to the image. Lastly I used the shadows and highlights tool to restore some of the darker shadow and add more of the colour.
I had the luxury of spending the entire day at the Museum of Science and Industry (in honor of Martin Luther King Day).
In the Fast Forward exhibit they have a cool interactive screen which casts your shadow. When you are very still the digital butterflies land on you. Amazing day with my little shadow.
Week #9 Glass - Glass roses. I shot this little ornament on a glass shelf, and man it was more work than I anticipated. It was difficult to keep the dust off the shelf, and my finger print smudge is on the ornament. Have to enjoy the process though. Will give this another try some time down the road.
Book Week is a time honored celebration to raise awareness among student the importance of books and literature. Throughout the five day celebration there will be lots of educational but fun activities such as poetry reading, story writing contests, arts and crafts projects, and a colorful costume parade where students wear their favorite book and comic character.
