I shot this over a week ago from my local beach, Towan Beach. I used a 100 - 400mm lens.
I took the precaution of wearing my waders and boot's as the sea was rough, good job I did as the sea was up to my waist at time's.
I have just got straight after a sudden hard drive crash, it took me a while to get everything back into place.

Another one from Friday 21 May when there was exceptionally strong winds for the time of year with gusts up to 60mph. The weather was not ideal with rain forecast to arrive by afternoon which luckily did not materialise on the South Coast as it broke up before arriving. The tides were not ideal either with high tide due at 19.45 when on an overcast day it would be quite dim. Nevertheless I headed to Newhaven, East Sussex for some giant wave pictures. I took 900 pictures over nearly 3 hours
The location at Newhaven on the South Coast has the advantage of a wide and high shingle beach providing a safe location to take pictures even in a fierce storm. This particular picture taken from a little further inland on a low ridge. The wall is a breakwater for the harbour and with a serious storm massive waves come in from the SW and hit the breakwater also creating a lot of backwash and turbulence. This picture was taken about 3 hours before high tide.
The picture was taken with a Sony A700 with a Minolta 75-300mm zoom at 210mm. Taken handheld No chance of a steady tripod in those conditions. The image was processed first in Camera Raw Editor. Then it was Topaz Denoise followed by Topaz Clarity and Topaz Adjust for more detail. Next I added a brightness adjustment layer for selective adjustments using a layer mask. Finally I converted to mono using Topaz BW Effects

I'll be out of touch with the internet for the next few days. Thanks very much for pushing my last shot into front page Explore!
My attempt at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Wear and Tear".
This saw blade is less than a mm thick.
Shot with a Schneider Kreuznach "Xenon 28 mm F2" lens on a Canon EOS R5.
Really didn’t get the results I was hoping for that evening - I was hoping to see sunset piercing the waves, but it didn’t. And the air was so full of water vapor from big waves breaking up that most shots just looked hazy and muddled. Ah well.
I have not taken many shots over the last few weeks and as Spring is casting her soft veil over Bondi I have been doing a spring clean of the 'archives' - so interesting for me to go back to my early photos from when I started late last year. I had no idea of when I got my first camera what I was going to take shots of , all I knew is that I wanted to start. I called myself Rosiebondi as it seemed simple when I signed up to flickr and I had no idea that I would fall head over heels in love in a whole new way with the area that I live in and the beaches and even more so the ocean which I have always loved being close to and being in.
This shot was taken on one of the first days that I brought my camera to the beach and took shot after shot and when I got home and uploaded the shots I suddenly really understood the photographic term 'capture' . When I look at this particular shot , there is a point right where the wave is curling that I get lost in and where time stands still and where, to me, the very soul of the ocean expresses itself. Since that day I have been captured by photography and specifically taking shots of the ocean, the light and the beach - I am a very willing and happy slave :).
