Noth Sea at Seahouses

Waves looking like a metalic mercury look at Port Nis beach

Waves bouncing off of the seawall at the south end of "Victoria Beach" in Laguna Beach, California, rebound into oncoming waves to create a beautiful and turbulent water playground.

Note on watermark: Some people have noticed the watermark changing. I have been experimenting...trying to find the most minimally intrusive version that will still prevent the image from being stolen (again). Hope this one is not too obnoxious.

It's no secret that one of my very favourite places to be is beside the sea along the Great Ocean Road.

Just recently we rented a beautiful little cottage only 200m from the beach which meant getting up at the crack of dawn . . . or in this case just before, was a must do.

I had planned to get up around 5.30am in the hope of catching a colourful sunrise . . . I woke around 5.15 and my comfy bed beckoned me to stay . . . but once glimpse out he window and the faintest hint of pink in the sky was all I needed . . . that and the chance to give my brand new DSLR it's first true run.

I was not disappointed and my early rise was reward with a spectacularly colourful sunrise (my camera did not disappoint either) . . . there was not a soul about and the beach for those couple of hours was my own, to bask and enjoy in the beautiful morning light . . . just blissful.

This is one of my very favourite shots from the weekend.

For my first morning of my holiday I headed to the infamous Dunstanburgh death rocks on what turned out to be a difficult morning. My decision to go to one of Northumbria's honey pot locations on the Sunday was rewarded by no less than five other TOGs jostling for position. I decided to try the other side of Saddle rock which did give me some shelter from the strong easterly wind and spray but effected composition choices. Also causing a problem was the huge amount of foam created by the churning sea covering a lot of those lovely shiny black boulders. Every shot from that morning had spray on the filter causing problems not to mention a distinct lack of colour even though things looked promising when I arrived. Anyway this is the best shot I managed so even though I don't love it it's getting posted as a record of an enjoyable if not exactly productive morning.

celebrating world ocean day!

it's time to save our oceans from plastic waste and protect the sea flora fauna

Relentless waves, in ceaseless march they come,

Each crest a tale of time, each crash a hum.

Against the shore they hurl their might,

With endless rhythm, day and night.

They dance in harmony, a symphony of sound,

Echoing through the sands, the sea's profound.

Their fury whispers secrets old,

Stories of sailors, mysteries untold.

With every surge, they sculpt the land,

Shaping cliffs and shores with gentle hand.

But underneath their tranquil guise,

Lies a power that could mesmerize.

They carry tales from distant lands,

And treasures lost beneath the sands.

In their embrace, the weary find reprieve,

As they ebb and flow, a timeless weave.

Relentless waves, in eternal chase,

A reminder of nature's boundless grace.

They teach us lessons of strength and strife,

And the beauty found in the rhythm of life.

Just as the wave cannot exist for itself, but is ever a part of the heaving surface of the ocean, so must I never live my life for itself, but always in the experience which is going on around me. -Albert Schweitzer

Whenever I'm in New England I always to try to shoot some crashing waves. Every shot is unique and fun. Even when you get hit with a surprise wave.

Tilt shift and slight crop.

It takes a brave person to walk down the promenade on this day

the sea was especially rough this evening as waves were crashing high over some cliffs.

I would like to say thanks to all my friends for visiting and highly appreciated your comments and FAVES!!

Simple composition on a cool calm morning with early light of day bringing a hint of warmth to the image - like the line of the breaking wave leading you through the scene to Hengistbury Head in the distance.
