I'm no wave expert, but two wave patterns seemed to be happening at once in the lake when I took this.
The winds were blowing basically left-to-right, and they seemed to be the source of the ephemeral blue waves on top.
The lake currents (it's basically a wide part of a river) were flowing right-to-left at the same time, and those waves are the steely-gray waves below the blue ones.
If you know wave behavior, I'd love to hear what you think about this.
The rain stopped, the sun came out and the late afternoon light was wonderful, so I headed for the beach to catch a wave or two ....
A Pacific wave from the north of the South Island. Working off cell hot spot just now which is very slow. Hope the holidays are going well.
randomness 10/52 -- waves -- so my randomly selected piece of paper said. This was taken early one morning in 2008. I will have a chance for some fresh wave shots this weekend but -- alas -- this theme was picked last week so out this came from the archives.

A wheat field on a small family farm just outside Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The wheat is probably Triticum aestivum of the Poaceae (or Gramineae), the common domestic, and most widely cultivated wheat.
