Holding a big rock ...So I'm not blow away .
Was it worth standing there in a terrible storm ??
But.....
Waves making a splash at Forty Foot, Sandycove, Dublin, Ireland.
It was a day of unusually high tides. Waves still making a splash even though the tide was still going out and near low tide. Only some waves made a big splash so it was a case of patience and trying to anticipate when there would be a big splash.
The Forty Foot is a very popular location for Sea Swimmimg all year round from morning to night. No one was swimming on this day due to rough seas.
Tot i el fred ... i ajornaments ... i una certa solitud ... no defallim i ens encaparrem a triar la direcció del nostre destí ... però no sempre hi ha ones ... i a vegades són massa grosses ... o poder no ???
Thanks to everyone who played the guessing game with my last image. Several people got it right: the image was all sky and clouds. A couple things make it tricky to figure out. First, the picture was taken from an airplane as we were starting to rise above the clouds. Second, I flipped the image upside down. When I flipped it the blue sky seemed to take on the characteristics of an expansive sea. I've posted the same image in its original orientation here. It is also suggestive of a seascape, I think. I'm struck by how different the image appears in the two orientations with no additional changes to the processing. I'm not sure which one I like better.
I took a long drive north along highway #1. I spent most of my time watching the waves breaking against the rocks. This scene is a few miles north of Bodega Bay. Bodega Bay is where the Hitchcock movie "The Birds" was filmed.

Soaring in the face of the gale and breaking wave, the gull seems to have no sense of danger. I was thrilled to experience the highest seas I can remember on my return to Middle Cove, near St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. The weather was miserable, but the ocean was truly magnificent. More later. In Explore.
