Home is where you hang your laundry
Idyllic location nestled up against the riverbank of the Alouette River (with the opposite side of the float home, facing the Pitt River).
This image was captured by boat on the southern arm of the scenic Alouette River.
Junction point where two rivers meet. The Alouette River flowing into Pitt River.
You can also capture this area by foot, but nothing compares to experiencing this life style by floating into the scene and becoming one with the peacefulness and beauty that 'surrounds' you.

Another scene from the city of Lübeck. My apartment was in the white house on the right edge of the picture when I spent the week before last here.
That's why it was obvious in the evening, when it didn't rain, to do a little lap around the harbor before I went to bed.

The blue hour in the morning on the Grand Canal is a quiet and special time. The throngs of visitors are still sleeping and the gondolas look like they are too.
Before I left on this trip, I got a new little camera and had to replace my ancient computer, so I am learning what new things each of them can do. Good for the mind and to see the possibilities. I like vignettes so used that tool in editing.

Moonrise over the mountains reflected in a small lake. Had visualized this picture for quite some time, and over easter I finally managed to capture it. Remember you are always welcome to drop by my Facebook page for more pictures. www.facebook.com/GauteFroysteinPhotography

Here comes a little addendum from Lübeck. I already showed you the old port. And where there is an old port, there must also be a new one.
And there he is. Clearly recognizable by the sign on the front.

Piers appear through out Venice. All of the various boats used for transportation through out the city need a place to dock and pick up passengers. They are often a modern distraction from the beauty of the old splendor of the city. However, in the dim light of morning only the lights shine through created a festive and magical atmosphere.

Another photo of the special sunrise I recently experienced at the Quitzdorf reservoir in Saxony. The colors and mood are so completely different from what I'm usually used to from a sunrise.
That's because of the dome of Saharan dust that hung over the country that day, filtering almost every color out of the light except yellow.
Of course, this doesn't make the photo really spectacular, but it's definitely something special. Best of all, the haze in the air allowed me to get an enlarged shot of the sun without overexposure. You can see the results here shortly.

It’s close to sunrise in the national park Rheinspitz at the lakeside of lake Constance. The water surface is covered by fog what is dissolving slowly but constantly. This peaceful atmosphere is supported by quietness you can almost touch with your hands. Only in the distance you can hear some early birds. Here, around me, they seem to sleep a bit longer.

Another shot from my short trip to Schwerin. Unfortunately I couldn't start as early as I wanted. And so I missed the sunset and the blue hour. Well, maybe next time. This perspective was the main reason of my excursion here. the idea of the other view, I did show You already, did develop just when I was here. That castle is a quite impressive building.

Even if we have only a single word for silence, it has so many different sounds. There are the sounds in ourselfes what make the difference. Whether it is the awkward silence in a conversation what came to a dead end or the moment, when two lovers lost themselfs in their emotions and in the soul of the other. Whether it is the silence of a dark night, what You are frightened scanning for dangerous sounds, or the silence of a beginning day, where You are moving, if you do at all, very quiet and reverent, not to destroy the magic. On that morning, I spend almost two hours on the side of that lake listening to the wonderful sound of the silence.

Another scene from the magical ride down the channels of water in the Okavango Delta. During almost the entire trip it was difficult to see where the sky ended and the water began. The same was true for where the banks of the channels were. The plants, the trees, the sky, the clouds all became one for two wonderful hours!

False Creek _ Blue Hour

Night reflections of the big city and harbour
False Creek is a short inlet in the heart of Vancouver. It separates downtown from the rest of the city. It was named by George Henry Richards during his Hydrographic survey of 1856-63. George Richards named False Creek during his survey of the coast in the mid-19th century. While traveling along the south side of the Burrard Inlet, he thought he was traversing a creek; upon discovering his error, he gave the waterway its modern name. Wikipedia

We were camping on the Portage River just west of Hancock, Michigan when I made this image. It was early morning and the wind was still. The sky was blue with mixed clouds.
The brilliant fall colors on the other side of the river are reflected on the top of the image! Clouds and rush stems are reflected on the bottom.
Sometimes you just have to enjoy the color!
Stay safe and healthy everyone!

Below the Charles Bridge in Praque with the view to the oldtown. I have no idea, where that light formation on the bridge was coming from.

Winter is coming to an end in big steps. It's about time to show the remaining photos from the short cold phase of this year. So that I can devote myself entirely to the awakening of spring.
This picture was taken at the big Röder, a small river that flows through my hometown.

After I was able to enjoy the moon rise, the evening before (yesterdays photo), now only a few hours later, I'm standing here again at lake Quitzdorf waiting for the sunrise. Because of that band of clouds crossing the sky above me, fore some time it didn't look like I would see the sun today. I almost was on my way back to my tent when that red glowing fireball was appearing at the sky. Together with the fog drifting over the water and the sound of the awakening birdlife around me, this was an absolutely amazing moment. I still was very touched and satisfied when I crawled back into my sleeping bag for a short round two.

This is, without doubt, one of my favorite photos from trips to several U.S. National Parks in 2016. We are blessed to enjoy beautiful sunsets routinely at home. However, this spot was magnificent. This is Schwabacher’s Landing, possibly the prime photo opt spot in Grand Teton National Park. The reflection of the Teton Mountains in the still, flat water of the Snake River is majestic. If you want more, entertainment is provided free of charge by the local wildlife. A family of resident beavers entertains several times a day! What more can anyone ask?
