Share the Road
Shoreline Highway
Mendocino County, California
One often sees bicyclists touring the North Coast on California One, especially in the Summer. Some travel individually or in pairs, and occasionally large groups. This sign is to remind drivers to share the road with them. From what I have seen is is usually ignored and I personally will not ride a bicycle on Highway One because of the danger from cars and trucks.

Crow warning.
Yanaka Cemetery, north of Ueno
in Yanaka 7-chome, Taito, Tokyo, Japan.
Yanaka Cemetery (Yanaka Reien or Yanaka Bochi) is a large public cemetery with its own police station and a small walled enclosure dedicated to the Tokugawa clan, family of the 15 Tokugawa shoguns of Japan.
The Yanaka sector of Taito is one of the few Tokyo neighborhoods in which the old Shitamachi atmosphere can still be felt. Shitamachi ("under city") is the traditional name for the physically low part of the city along and east of the Sumida River.

This handpainted sign -- a perfect example of the naive style -- shows a young woman dressed in pants and a short topcoat happily leading a rather bewildered young man. As usual with this style of warning signs, only the man is carrying a briefcase; notice that the young woman is wearing a headscarf.
Guardatela in grande!

A warning sign,
I missed the good part then I realized,
I started looking and the bubble burst.
I started looking for excuses.
Come on in,
I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in,
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones,
That I started looking for a warning sign.
When the truth is,
I miss you.
Yeah the truth is,
That I miss you so.
A warning sign,
You came back to haunt me and I realized
you were an island and I passed you by,
You were an island to discover.
Come on in,
I've gotta tell you what state I'm in,
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones,
That I started looking for a warning sign.
When the truth is,
I miss you.
Yeah the truth is,
That I miss you so.
And I'm tired,
I should not have let you go.
So I crawl back into your open arms.
Yes, I crawl back into your open arms.
And I crawl back into your open arms.
Yes, I crawl back into your open arms...

One of the two types of warning traffic-sign "Children" in Covasna, a town with mixed ethnic Romanian and Székely in Covasna county, Romania. The two young persons are highly stylized; observe the subtle hint of a skirt on the leading character, and note that she does not have a pony tail, nor does she carry a briefcase.
Not a typical warning sign, but interesting all the same. Perhaps Dublin has had superhero problems the rest of the world doesn't have? Fun, all the same!
Haven't had this much fun doing a shoot in ages.
Photographing cars ploughing into a flooded road - Hilarious!
This was even after seeing warning signs.

Sudden drop warning sign seen on Hythe Quay in the town of Maldon in the County of Essex (UK).
The sudden drop is off the Quay and into the river or mud if it's low tide ;-)

Danger Ahead! Drive Slowly. Street Party in Progress.
Danger ahead warning sign for the Queen's 90th birthday street party in the High Street in the small town of Sheringham in Norfolk (UK) June 11th 2016.
This sign is in the adjoining Station Road which remained open during the party.
The old risk of grounding sign on the approach to Achterneed level crossing, when it was an automatic open crossing. The crossing was subsequently upgraded with the addition of half barriers and this sign was replaced with the modern version.
One of the most unusual roadside signs I've seen for a while is this one on Whitley Bay's Promenade advising "Divers please use discretion when undressing".
I don't know if the reason is the kids playpark behind the signpost or a general problem of semi-naked divers in the North Tyneside area!
An antique warning traffic-sign "Children" in Romania, on DJ 103 (DJ stands for "Drum Judeţean", County Road) between Braşov and Sânpetru. This fine example of socialist realism is affixed on a metal pillar supporting the roof of the gatehouse of the former enterprise Sere Braşov, or, in English, Brashov Greenhouses. Observe the dress of the girl, reminiscent of the 1950s. The two young people are depicted in a soaring pose, running towards the radiant future. Sadly, the Greenhouses have gone bankrupt and the land is now for sale; most likely the derelict structures will be torn down.
This is the only instance of the warning traffic sign "Children" which I have seen in Vienna; now this should not be taken to mean that the usage of this traffic sign is rare in the Austrian capital -- after all, most of my sighseeing has been confined to tourist areas. Note the crudity of the design, quite unexpected for an imperial capital. This example, seen on Amerlingstrasse, falls squarely in the realistic division: we can see that the boy is wearing a flatcap, the girl has a ribbon, and the clothes and demeanor of the two characters have a quaint antique quality (they remind me of the movies of the 50s). The girl is leading the boy; they are both carrying folders.
