When my wife and I were dancing (Ballroom), an expression would come up when we had mastered a dance sequence for our level. For Sutton, here is the visual pun for you to ponder next time you consider saying it to one of your students...

As always, thanks for your views, comments and faves!

Alternate title: "Used coffin for sale - cheap"

Sirchuckles "dug up" a coffin and the four of us (me, my wife, Lynnieb and sirchuckles) had some macabre fun with it today. Almost every picture involved "artistic" ideas from everybody.

Saw this in my local branch of Waterstones and realised it was a Photoshop op....

"In cinema theory, Laura Mulvey identifies the Male Gaze, in sympathy with the Lacanian statement that "Woman is a symptom of man." what this means is that femininity is a social construct, and that the feminine object the object petit a, or the object of desire, is what constitutes the male lack, and thus his positive identity."

Made for Scrapiteria theme of the week - "Pun-related collage".

Seen whilst driving through my old home town of Portsmouth. An advertisement sign attached to a bus stop has been broken or vandalised leaving just a small part of the original poster. In this case, a model's severed head.

I absolutely love this. I think it looks fascinating. I took it at about 2AM and haven't done a thing to the picture. The advertisements are back lit which is why it's so bright,

For those of you who are not familiar with REAL cowpies, they are the big, flat, round piles of …uh…what cows leave behind in fields. The Baraboo Candy Company sells candy versions, which taste much better…not that I've tasted the alternative…I mean, who knows?

While there is a visual pun depicted here, the exercise equipment was photographed through the window of the Maryland Institute College of Art Fitness Center.

Also: "'Blue balls' is a slang term for the condition of temporary fluid congestion in the testicles and prostate region, accompanied by acute testicular pain, caused by prolonged and unsatisfied sexual arousal in the human male."

With all of the media hype about this month's super moon, I took some photos of it and blended with the big Superman statue from Metropolis, IL we saw last month. So much for a visual pun, eh?

You know how it is, you're going along on your journey and you come across a fork in the road - NOW what?

WIT:

More snow overnight. Took my camera for a walk, and took a fork along for good measure. Found a suitably quite road and held the fork our in front of me for the shot. There is flare from the sun, but if I did it the other way you got my shadow instead. Cropped a bit.

Edited version, getting the colour and sharpness in the scales leads to heavy CA. Photoshop could fix that, but I think it looks cool. Differences between artists and photographers ;)

As a tribute to my GetPushed (FLICR Group) R14 push partner (Huub Zeeman)'s response of coming up with a visual pun (see it here: www.flickr.com/photos/huubzeeman/6467320073/in/pool-16814...), here is one that we bring out every year at Christmas time... It is a Mistle-"toad!" Don't get caught under this guy unless you want to get kissed!

Spent about 2.5 hours of my Sunday morning drawing this flyer for our upcoming show at the Black Cat Backstage in DC

Sarah Lucas the 50 year old British Artist who emerged as part of the generation of Young British Artists during the 1990s. Lucas’s works frequently employs visual puns and bawdy humour, includes photography, collage and found objects. Lucas has been profiled by Christina Patterson for the Independent titled ‘Sarah Lucas: A Young British Artist grows up and speaks out’. Patterson states in the article “[Lucas] says, never been someone for make-up. She has, in fact, had fun not using her femininity because people find it so odd. At the Groucho club, where the YBAs used to hang out, she'd stare at the women in their summer dresses and perfume, flirting with men, and enjoy the fact that she wasn't. You realise, she says, that you've got some other charisma. You can say that again. It's quite rare to meet a heterosexual woman who's making no attempt at all to make herself attractive to men, but who – how shall I put this? – radiates sex. But it's also quite hard to think of an artist whose work is so much about it. …This is what Sarah Lucas does. She takes… ordinary things …and she does something to them that can actually make you blush. She doesn't just take ordinary objects and say they're art. Quite a lot of the YBAs, and the people they have influenced, do. They seem to think that if you say something's art it's art, and if you say something's shocking, it is. They seem to forget that the person to decide whether something's shocking, or powerful, or moving, isn't the person who made it.” Inspired by Christina Patterson ow.ly/d0GVb image source Facebook ow.ly/d0Hzc
