Great excitement that the whales were visiting, close inshore. You have to be impressed by their size. This was a Southern Right Whale cow and calf.

When given the opportunity to visit Pixar, you take it. Hopefully I'll be able to visit again in some capacity in the future.

I stopped by to see how Belmont is doing at his foster home. He was on top of the kitchen cabinet! His people said he hangs out there a lot when they're away but when they come home he comes down to play.

He is making serious progress, he will stay out and about even when new people come to visit ... as long as they're all women. Apparently Belmont is not digging men right now, but if your party is all XX chromosomes, he'll come down and hang out. If a guy shows up it's back to one of his several hiding spots. Consequently, he wasn't super happy to see me.

Oh well, it's still great progress, plus we now know it takes him about 2 weeks to adjust to a new home. We're so happy he has a place to stay for now that allows him the full range of experiences most cats take for granted. At our house he couldn't be out with the other cats so he never got to sleep in bed with us, or sit on the couch. Now he gets to do it all!

While visiting my home town of New Philadelphia, Ohio on July 4th, I took these photos using a Nikon D610 and a Nikkor 50mm f1.8G lens. I really love the way this lens separates the subject from the background. I get so used to using my zoom lenses, and rarely use my faster prime lenses. This time I purposely only took the 50mm with me, and I was glad I did.

The Moorish fortress was our first place to visit.

Back home visiting my parents farm and found my mom's old Canon AE-1 Program. It's in terrible condition, completely dusty, but a pretty cool find. Wish it still worked.

This is the pose I got when I told him I wanted to take his picture.
