No. 3 - 4:- Exploring High Street, Redbourn, Hertfordshire.
The Red House.
Gertrude Peake Place was built on the site originally occupied by Redbourn House. The House was built c.1742 and members of the Bowes-Lyons family lived there during two periods, Lady Glamis before 1865 and G. Bowes-Lyons in the 1920's, as well as being in the ownership of the family. Gertrude Peake Place was restored in 1962.

Bowes-Lyons was the family name of our late Queen Mother.
This was once the site of the Greyhound Inn. There is an old well in the cellar. William Alexander Pope lived here before he moved to the new vicarage at Church End. (He was Vicar of St Marys Church from 1877 to 1897.)

Great excitement that the whales were visiting, close inshore. You have to be impressed by their size. This was a Southern Right Whale cow and calf.
