My inlaws were visiting our area of Florida and invited us over for an afternoon lunch at their condo rental in Madeira Beach. This view looks out unto an inlet off the bay and as you can see many people have boats and they hail from all parts of the U.S. and Carribean.
Sadly as I upload this I am thinking of those in another part of the world who are suffering and it is hard to accept that someone is always the cause of grief for so many, making me ever grateful for my Freedoms. Prayers for Ukraine........
A few units sit out in the backlot at EMD's LaGrange plant (which is actually located in McCook), my last stop before returning the rental car. The Windy City is barely visible on the horizon.
Although locomotives were once built here by the thousands, the plant has been downsized significantly in recent decades; it doesn't take a big leap of the imagination to think everything will move one day to the newer plant in Indiana, leaving the historic facility seen here to be only a memory.
I have no idea why the 1984-vintage CP unit was there.

Little ride around Moorcroft where we visited a new place called What the Buzz. A cute little place where you can see bees and of course, eat honey !

Cruising the Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt County and the pullovers were frequent. The Coastal Redwoods are massive here, the tallest reaching nearly 400 feet in height. And they aren't youngsters either. Many of the trees are 1,200 to 1,800 years old.
For perspective I included Marg in the image. You can just see her white hat on the left-center of the frame as she hikes along the trail.

St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican was built in years 1506–1626, in place of the older early Christian basilica.
According to tradition, the basilica stands at the burial place of St. Piotr, his grave lies under the main altar at the intersection of naves. The temple is a necropolis of popes, including saints Pius X, John XXIII and John Paul II.
The basilica is a leading work of Renaissance and Baroque architecture, with a very rich interior design. Inside there are such great works as; bronze figure of St. Peter Arnolf di Cambio, Vatican Pieta will perform by Michel Angelo, the altar of Saint Peter with a canopy and many more.
The Vatican Basilica is the second largest church in the world.
Four massive pillars support the dome with a diameter of 42 meters decorated with mosaics of Cavalier d'Arpino. The highest point is the lighthouse on which stairs accessible to visiting tourists lead.

Według tradycji bazylika stoi na miejscu pochówku św. Piotra, jego grób leży pod głównym ołtarzem na skrzyżowaniu naw. Świątynia jest nekropolią papieży, w tym świętych m.in. Piusa X, Jana XXIII i Jana Pawła II.
Bazylika jest czołowym dziełem architektury renesansu i baroku, z bardzo bogatym wystrojem wnętrza. We wnętrzu znajdują się tak znakomite dzieła jak; brązowa figura św. Piotra Arnolfa di Cambio, Pieta Watykańska wykona przez Michała Anioła, ołtarz Świętego Piotra z baldachimem i wiele innych.
Bazylika watykańska jest drugim co do wielkości kościołem na świecie.
Cztery masywne filary podtrzymują kopułę o średnicy 42 metrów ozdobioną mozaikami Cavaliera d’Arpino. Najwyższym punktem jest latarnia na którą prowadzą schody udostępnione odwiedzającym turystom.
