Education is about learning for life. It’s about culture. It’s about imagination.

We will ensure children can learn musical instruments, drama, dance, and visit theatres, galleries and museums.

Because those things are part of what makes us human and what brings us joy.

ECHO and UNICEF representatives Visiting Dalacha Health Post and its surrounding villages at West Hararghe Zone, Dalacha kebele Meisso wereda. Miesso was a large woreda in West Harerege Zone with 44 Kebeles (sub-districts) until recently. In July, the woreda was split and Miesso now consists of 29 kebeles with a total population of 125,353. The woreda is chronically food insecure, prone to drought and high levels of malnutrition as a result. Due to the El Niño drought, Miesso has remained a Priority One hotspot for much of 2016. There are 3 Health Centres and 29 Health Posts in the woreda. Each health centre acts as a ‘primary health care unit’ which supports its nearby satellite health posts.©UNICEF Ethiopia/2016/TNahom Tesfaye

The purpose of visiting this factory was to assess how Rwanda can recapture the domestic market and increase export in steel products. He appreciated the achievements of the factory, encouraged its managers to increase production and reiterated the continued support of the Government of Rwanda. He concluded his visit in the Eastern Province, by touring the Rwamagana Industrial Park. He held deep discussions with the Province and District leaders on how this industrial park can contribute more to the development of the Rwandan economy.

I was visiting Daniel Island, South Carolina for the Family Circle Tennis Tournament. Of course I wanted to photograph wildlife as much as I could.

This particular morning my heart was set first on photographing the sunrise then wildlife. The sunrise adventure wasn't so hot, but I found a trove of wildlife.

A local guy named Skip was riding his bike and saw me photographing at a swampy area. He asked me if I saw the babies. When I questioned him, he told me in the spring there usually were a lot of baby alligators. He left, and quickly came back. He told me there was a "baby" alligator at the small pond. I asked him if he would show me where it was.

He told me the alligator had been there for a few years and that it was neat to watch him grow. When we got there, the alligator was on the bank of the pond. The alligator was probably six feet long.

As a bonus there was an egret! That photo is for another day!

Slowly I approached him, and he did not move. I would take a few shots then move in closer. Only towards the end did he lift his head.

This was one of my last shots. I wanted to face him square on. The photograph was with a 400 mm lens. I had to only crop to straighten the photograph. As I was in front of him, I wasn't overly concerned with lining up everything perfect!

Maybe I was a little too close:)

The flowered panels are fastened down just at one corner, and when you look underneath you find a name: "Carrie E Smith" for the top card and ""Mollie A. Ernst" for the bottom one. Mollie Smith (MCE's mother) married John Ernst, and became Mollie Ernst, in 1883, so these cards go back to about that time. Carrie Smith was Mollie's sister.
