This Lauttasaari viewpoint was not know to me before. I found it by chance when taking a detour on my way to work. This shot is taken at noon. Note to self "Go the the location at sunset"
This viewpoint accessible via a short tunnel overlooks the Caldeira de Faial in the center of Faial Island in the Azores.
I often pass the bridge, but I have never been below her at the viewpoint. The vantage point, along with signs and bench, were completely overgrown with shrubs and flowers :)
Die Brücke passiere ich häufig, unter ihr am Aussichtspunkt war ich aber noch nie. Der gesamte Aussichtspunkt, samt Schildern und Sitzbank waren völlig mit Sträuchern und Blumen überwachsen :)

This is the view looking south, a scene just prior to the privatisation and break-up of British Rail. Carrying the final iteration of the InterCity livery, a Class 91 locomotive and its rake of Mark 4 coaches departs from Peterborough station on a northbound express. Onlooking locomotives in the adjacent Peterborough North yard are a Class 56 and a Class 37, each carrying BR Freight Sector colours.

The so called lion rock, because from the side it looks like a lying lion. And also so really great view at the end of it.

After visiting the Virgin of Quito, we stopped at this hillside viewpoint with a clear view of the city. Below is the old colonial center; in the distance, you can see the high-rise buildings of modern Quito to the north.
From up here, you really understand how the city is laid out. Most of the city's expansion has happened in the north—newer neighborhoods, business areas, and shopping centers. The south is more residential, with many working-class communities. Right in between is the historic center, full of culture, history, and political life.
I noticed this boy standing quietly, looking out over his city. At the time, I just captured the moment. But now—one month later, just a day after Ecuador's presidential election—I wonder: What is he doing today? Is he listening to his parents talk about everyday things, or maybe even about politics?
This morning, I heard that President Daniel Noboa has been re-elected. He focuses on fighting gang violence linked to drug trafficking, improving security, and growing the economy. It's a big task, and the country faces serious challenges.
Still, I hope things move in the right direction—for this boy, his family, and everyone in Ecuador. No one should have to live in fear or uncertainty.

Saarburg ist eine Stadt im Landkreis Trier-Saarburg in Rheinland-Pfalz und liegt an der Saar. Saarburg ist die Saarweinmetropole (der Saarwein kommt aus Rheinland-Pfalz und nicht etwa aus dem Saarland - saarländischer Wein wächst in Perl an der Mosel). Saarburg ist der Verwaltungssitz der Verbandsgemeinde Saarburg.
Im Jahr 1291 verlieh König Rudolf von Habsburg (1218 bis 1291) Saarburg zusammen mit Welschbillig, Mayen, Bernkastel und Montabaur die Stadtrechte. Die Geschichte der Stadt Saarburg ist sehr eng verknüpft mit der der gleichnamigen Burg.
