Yesterday’s visit to Drumburn viewpoint after the rain,which started at Dumfries in the morning and called here on the way back from Bainloch deer park.

- Zoomed viewpoint is looking east from the eastern end of the Pyrmont Bridge pedestrian walkway, along Market Street towards the Sydney Tower as the "PEPSI EXPRESS" monorail train approaches Darling Park Station.
- Sadly, (for some - like me) the Sydney Monorail line no longer exists, having been shut down in June 2013 after 25 years of service, beginning in 1988.

El Guriete Viewpoint
From this viewpoint at the Barranco de Tirajana it is possible to make out the fortress of Ansite. In modern times this has been related to the final battle ground for the conquest of the island of Gran Canaria. Ansite was the site where a group of Canarians took refuge prior to surrendering to the military powers of Pedro de Vera on 29th April 1483, the date on which Gran Canaria was incorporated into the Castilian Crown. As a result of events here, every 29th April celebrations have been held here to commemorate the symbolic significance of the fusion of the two peoples, although rather than a fusion, it really signaled the takeover of the defeated islanders.
The fortresses constitute an important archaeological settlement, with a multitude of funeral caves and living quarters. The nearby Museo Castillo de La Fortaleza El Hao de Santa Lucía, is the ideal place to go to find out more about the pre Hispanic dwellers of the area.
From the Pigeon Valley viewpoint, one can see across Pigeon Valley (Güvercinlik Vadisi), with its distinct, pocketed cliff faces carved out as "pigeon houses", stretching all the way to the town of Göreme. Cappadocia, Türkiye.
Göreme National Park and the Rock Sites of Cappadocia have been inscribed into the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1985.
Doi Ang Khang (Thai: ดอยอ่างขาง) is a mountain in Fang District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. It is part of the Daen Lao Range that straddles both sides of the Burmese-Thai border. It is the site of an agricultural station, the first research station set up by King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1969. The peak of Doi Ang Khang is 1,928 metres (6,325 ft) above sea level, and the agricultural station covers an area of 1,989 rai (318 ha) Chiang Mai, Thailand
No, this wasn't taken in Chile but this is an attempt to recreate some of that Andean scenery, and a pretty good attempt at that, by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Scotland
Having been pleasantly surprised by a visit to Benmore Botanic Garden a few years ago, that I won in a competition, I remember thinking the relatively newly planted hillside and viewpoint was quite atmospheric and would be worth future visits. I would look forward to seeing how the different varieties of monkey puzzle were progressing having grown up in a house that had a fine specimen in the garden and fond memories of this. The refuge would also be a good picnic place, especially if the weather wasn't too good.
Well a recent visit after a few years didn't disappoint. We made our way up to the viewpoint and had our sandwiches and then had a very leisurely walk back down through the different settings.
Years ago if my parents were going somewhere and asked if I wanted to go with them, without thinking, the answer would usually be no, especially if the name of the place to be visited included the word garden. Who wants to visit a garden? Boring!
Maybe I have become my parents but Benmore has so much more to offer than a garden. Yes, part of it is a garden but most of it is a network of trails and follies with some real gems hidden amongst it set on a hillside near Dunoon. Great place just for a walk but also to take your dog for a walk, ours loved it and the network of paths are well maintained. maybe they should rename it Benmore Trails and more people might visit.
Home also to an avenue of Giant Redwoods and a Victorian Fernery plus numerous little huts/follies.

Brooklyn Wildlife Segment, Ice Age Trail, Dane County, Wisconsin. The lighter-colored area across the middle of this panorama is the wetlands of Story Creek, which at the time of this photo, were quite dry due to the lack of rain. The presence of the wetlands attracts cranes to the area. The mix of farms and woodlands is very typical of this part of Wisconsin. Tall prairie grasses, blowing in the wind, appear on the left and right.
