Sometimes the weather just isn't in your favour for getting out with the camera and it creates the opportunity to look at your photography in a different way. This is just one example of how I have had to look at my photography and I do enjoy the chance to find other ways of being creative. I hope you like this as much as my other work.

I went to Herne Bay last week. I saw these air vents on the seafront near the King's Hall - not sure what they are for, but they looked interesting.
Took this photograph using a circular polarising filter.
Hope you enjoy.

Black-vented Shearwater is common off the Baja coast but they are usually fast and distant, so getting a photograph isn't easy. I wanted to upload this one because it shows the black vent (the bit between the legs and the tail). 95% of the world population of Black-vented Shearwater nests on a single island off Baja; Isla Natividad, though a few pairs nest on Guadalupe and San Benitos (which we visited). But like Manx Shearwater they only visit their nesting burrows under cover of darkness. Its scientific name Puffinus opisthomelas simply translates as shearwater with a black behind.
The red-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a member of the bulbul family of passerines. It is resident breeder across the Indian subcontinent, including Sri Lanka extending east to Burma and parts of Tibet. It has been introduced in many other parts of the world and has established itself in the wild on several Pacific islands including Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and Hawaii. It has also established itself in parts of Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, the United States, Argentina and New Zealand. It is included in the list of the world's 100 worst invasive alien species.
