Metal ventilation vents for an inner-city apartment building that have been buckled by Adelaide's extreme summer heat.

Antananarivo (Madagascar) – Stall making and selling Chinese noodles in Andravoahangy, the largest market in the Malagasy capital.
Located in the northeast of the city, it's both a market and a shantytown, as most of the vendors live there. It has a very bad reputation because tour guides claim that foreigners who venture here risk being robbed. Personally, I've often wandered the narrow, muddy alleyways of this market, taking photos, without ever being bothered. It's true that I only carry one camera with me, which I keep in my hand. Valuables stay at the hotel. When travelling, safety is often simply a matter of logic.
Se riveli al vento i tuoi segreti, non devi poi rimproverare al vento di rivelarli agli alberi.

We are blessed with having over 50 species of bird in and around our small garden. Over 100 species of butterfly also frequent our flowering plants and trees. It provides us with many hours of simple pleasure in watching nature enjoy the small oasis we have created over the past six years.

This hummingbird has hidden beauty. Mostly simple green but with white puffy boots and a brilliantly coloured vent they show off on occasion!

The Steely-vented Hummingbird (Saucerottia saucerottei) is a captivating species native to the tropical and subtropical forests of Central and South America. This photo, taken at La Minga Ecolodge near Cali, Colombia, captures a female perched gracefully amidst a backdrop of soft green tones. Her iridescent green feathers glisten in the natural light, with hints of blue and gold adding depth to her plumage. At 1988 meters above sea level, this location offers the perfect environment to observe the diversity of hummingbirds that thrive in Colombia, a country known for its remarkable avian richness.
From a technical perspective, this image was taken with a Canon R5 and a 100-500mm lens at 500mm. The camera was set to TV mode with a shutter speed of 1/1000 second, ready for action shots, but this hummingbird’s momentary stillness provided an opportunity to switch focus. The fading light required me to raise the ISO to 800, a setting the R5 handles with ease, delivering a noise-free result that preserves fine details. Handheld at this focal length, the camera’s stabilization ensured sharpness while maintaining flexibility to adjust composition on the fly.

Tiny, generally uncommon finch of humid evergreen forest and edge in tropical lowlands. Usually in pairs, which associate readily with other euphonias, especially when feeding at mistletoe. Male has black head and throat with yellow forehead patch and white vent (vent yellow on Scrub Euphonias in same range). Yellow breast is richer, more golden yellow than Scrub Euphonia. Female rather drab but distinctive: pale grayish throat contrasts with dull yellowish breast and vent is white like male.
White-vented Plumeleteer is a hummingbird species with a distribution mainly in northwestern South America, plus into Panama in Central America. The second part of the scientific name honours Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon, a French naturalist of the 1700s. This individual was seen near the town of Minca in northern Colombia.
