I couldn't get a clean shot of this 8-foot by 16-inch vent stack for a public water system. I shot a closeup of rust and crust, from the section of "spout" nearest to the camera.
This bird was easy to find at Bentsen State Park in Mission, Texas. This is the second winter in a row in which it has been found at Bentsen.

Unbelievable that after coming here so.many.times, we missed these huge and beautiful vents covers by Michel Deverne from 1985. I think I might even like these better than Le Moretti.
Black-vented Shearwaters can feed by snatching food from the water's surface. They can also dive for food swimming under water like a penguin. Black-vented Shearwaters are only found in the waters off southern and Baja California, where they nest on isolated islands.
As photographers, we are a strange breed. We see value in the oddest of things. This air vent at Saint Katherine’s Dock London is part of a modern development amongst the Victorian and some would say more classic architecture. The shot is in colour, although one such a flat light day, it would be hard to tell.

The Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is resident breeder in tropical southern Asia from India and Sri Lanka east to Burma and southwestern China. The Red-vented Bulbul is easily identified by its short crest giving the head a squarish appearance. The body is dark brown with a scaly pattern while the head is darker or black. The rump is white while the vent is red. The black tail is tipped in white.
