Un des 18 derniers moulins a vent du Québec. Situé au 11603 Notre-Dame est dans le quartier Pointe-aux-Trembles de Montréal.
Construit en 1719, en opération jusqu'en 1866. Maintenant la propriété de la Ville de Montréal.
Classé bien culturel en 1982.
Entière restauré en 2007-2008, avec ailes et rouet. Les mécanismes n'ont pas été reconstitués.
Hauteur : 13 mètres
Étages : 3 en plus du rez-de-chausée
Diamètre : 18 pieds (5,5 mètres) à la base; 16 pieds (4,9 m) dans sa partie supérieure
Non ouvert au public.
Le moulin à vent de Pointe-aux-Trembles est l'un des plus anciens moulins du Québec à subsister.
This rambling industrial site was at the forefront of fullers earth production until 1996 when it's gates shut for the last time. Fullers earth is used worldwide with uses as diverse as filter medium, treatment for chemical weapon wounds, special effects explosions in films and the processing of wool fibres in the textiles industry. So much more than just Kitty Litter!

The Vents by the artist Thomas Heatherwick who designed the "B of the Bang" in Manchester for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the British Pavilion for the Shanghai Expo 2010. This sculpture interestingly functions as ventilation towers for an electricity power sub-station underground.
Four photos from day two of the prototype vent installation on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope dome.
A total of twelve vent units will be installed in the end, each one about the height of a two story building and a little over six feet wide. The idea is to open the vents to the nighttime air so the air temperature inside the dome can come to nighttime temp as quickly as possible.
A prototype vent is being installed to test the vent, the installation procedure, and our control system. Once any bugs we run into are ironed out, the remaining vents will be installed.

Scarborough - October 2010.
I have been to Scarbrough more time than I can remeber and my parents even more to add to that - none of use knoew of this little spot hidden away for bathers of yester-year. Its seen better times, but the colours and deraliction were great subjects.

As enormes pás em aço inox desta escultura reflectem diversos pontos do céu, ao movimentarem-se sob a acção do vento, do alto dos seus 6 metros.
Susumu Shingu nasceu em 1937 em Osaka, no Japão. Depois de se graduar pela Universidade das Artes de Tokyo em 1960, estudou em Roma, na Universidade das Belas Artes.
Escultor, investigador e filósofo da natureza, Susumu Shingu criou e instalou esculturas monumentais à volta do mundo, movidas pelas forças e fluxos da natureza – vento, água e gravidade.
A sua investigação sobre o movimento é baseada na sua observação dos elementos da natureza, bem como no funcionamento do corpo humano. É também apoiada pelos seus conhecimentos tecnológicos e o uso adequado de materiais inovadores.
Todo o seu trabalho demonstra que devemos seguir esses ritmos naturais para redescobrir a harmonia entre o nosso ser interior e os fenómenos naturais, chegando à conclusão que partilham vitalidade.
Shingu colaborou com arquitectos, coreógrafos e designers como Renzo Piano, Tadao Ando, Jiri Kilián and Issey Miyake.
