Museum Van Loon is located in a canal house along the Keizersgracht canal in Amsterdam. Former home of the Van Loon family who founded the Dutch East India Company. This is a view from the back of the main house at the garden.

Van Fortress is standing on a steep hill on the eastern side of Van Lake in modern-day Turkey. It used to be the seat of the Urartian kings that ruled over the region in the beginnings of the first millennium BCE. The fortress is one of the largest castles in Anatolia.
The oldest traces of human activity near Van were found at Tilkitepe mound, one of the first excavated mounds in Turkey. The site, located along the shores of Lake Van and a few kilometres to the south of the citadel of Van, is the only known source of information about the oldest cultures of Van predating the founding of Tushpa, the 9th-century BCE capital of Urartu.
The fortress was erected on the steep-sided bluff from two main kinds of construction materials. Its lower walls were built of unmortared basalt and the upper sections of the walls - from mud-brick..
The castle, sitting on a natural fortress, was also protected by two deep trenches, cut into the rock of the ridge. The imposing walls of the citadel were built on stepped rock terraces, characteristic to Urartian architecture. Urartian builders preferred to erect the foundations directly on the bedrock, as thus they created these stepped structures. They also levelled the ground and formed flat surfaces at various parts of the citadel where the buildings with many functions must have stood. The large blocks of the lower courses date back to the times of Urartu, but mud-brick and stone upper courses were added later, in the Ottoman times. The architecture of the citadel was not limited to these fortifications but also included many other buildings and structures, such as rock burial chambers for the kings, open-air sanctuaries, inscriptions on the rocks and inscribed stelae. Unfortunately, little has been preserved of the actual buildings that the Urartians constructed within the walls.
The southern face of Van Fortress hill houses eight tombs cut into the rock. Four of them are multichambered tombs dated to the Urartian period.. The largest of the tombs belongs to King Argisti I. Outside, the inscription known as the Annals of Argisti can be seen. In two cases, the tombs can be accessed by long staircases cut in the rock. The multi-chambered tombs have a platform in front of the entrance, a central hall, accessed by the steps, and several adjoining rooms. The rooms reach up to 9 meters in height and cover the area of two hundred square meters.
A rock terrace, situated on the northern slope of the hill, is known locally as Mother with Daughter (Analı Kız), because of two niches that it accommodates. It was built by King Sarduri II, and most probably served as a sacred area. The researchers have identified a sizeable grooved channel running down the slope from the platform situated in front of these niches. It presumably carried away the blood of sacrifices performed there. The niches are over 5 meters high and have rounded tops. The Annals of Sarduri II can also be seen there, carved onto a basalt stele.

Sự sụt giảm đáng kể của lượng khách quốc tế, cùng với sự sụt giảm thị trường khách nội địa, đã gây ra những tổn thất không nhỏ đến các khách sạn, nhà hàng, cũng như các địa điểm tổ chức hội nghị và sự kiện.
Khách du lịch giảm mạnh
Theo báo cáo của Tổng cục Du lịch Việt Nam, lượng khách quốc tế đến nước ta trong tháng 2 giảm 37,7% so với tháng trước, giảm 21,8% so với cùng kỳ năm 2019 và dự kiến sẽ giảm sâu hơn trong những tháng tới.
Yếu tố chính dẫn đến sự sụt giảm khách quốc tế của Việt Nam cũng như các quốc gia trong khu vực Đông Nam Á là do sự phụ thuộc lớn vào thị trường khách Hàn Quốc, Trung Quốc (chiếm khoảng 56% tổng lượng khách du lịch quốc tế của Việt Nam – PV) trong khi đây là những quốc gia bị ảnh hưởng trầm trọng từ dịch bệnh.
Thêm vào đó, trong 2 tuần qua, dịch bệnh đã trở nên ngày càng phức tạp hơn tại khu vực châu Âu và châu Mỹ, trong khi 2 thị trường này cũng chiếm tới 17% tổng lượt khách đến Việt Nam trong năm 2019.
Chỉ tính riêng tại Hà Nội, trong 2 tháng đầu năm 2020, lượng khách trong, ngoài nước đều giảm mạnh với trên 12.800 phòng khách sạn bị hủy (tương đương trên 16.000 khách). Hơn 7.600 khách hủy tour đến Hà Nội, khoảng 6.000 khách trong nước đi du lịch Đài Loan, Trung Quốc cũng huỷ chuyến.
Giám đốc Savills Hotels châu Á Thái Bình Dương Mauro Gasparotti cho biết, để ngăn chặn sự lây lan của virus, Chính phủ Việt Nam đã tuyên bố tạm thời cấm nhập cảnh đối với các du khách nước ngoài. Đây là một chiến lược tốt để giảm tiếp xúc với các nguồn lây nhiễm dù có thể sẽ gây ra tác động đến ngành du lịch Việt Nam, dự báo lượt du khách quốc tế sẽ còn giảm mạnh hơn trong thời gian tới.
“Trong khi lượng khách quốc tế đang giảm mạnh, thì nhu cầu du lịch của du khách nội địa cũng giảm đáng kể do người dân ngày càng e ngại hơn khi phải đi đến những địa điểm tập trung đông người như sân bay, ga tàu, nhà hàng, và khu vui chơi giải trí. Trên thực tế, nhu cầu du lịch trong nước phụ thuộc lớn vào khả năng đối phó với dịch bệnh của Chính Phủ Việt Nam” – ông Mauro Gasparotti nhìn nhận.
Phục hồi chậm nhưng ổn định
Các chuyên gia dự báo, ngành du lịch Việt Nam hiện đang chịu ảnh hưởng nặng nề từ dịch bệnh và điều này dự kiến sẽ còn tiếp tục kéo dài. Tuy nhiên, nhìn nhận một cách tích cực, ngành công nghiệp không khói có khả năng phục hồi nhanh hơn so với các ngành nghề khác.
“Có nhiều tín hiệu tích cực đối với lĩnh vực du lịch. Đầu tiên, Việt Nam đã có những biện pháp xử lý tình trạng dịch bệnh tốt. Khi đại dịch đi qua, du lịch chắc chắn sẽ khởi sắc trở lại, bất động sản nghỉ dưỡng cũng tăng trưởng; bênh cạnh đó nếu nhìn vào cơ cấu khách nước ngoài đến Việt Nam, có thể thấy, khách đến từ Campuchia, Thái Lan, Na Uy, Mỹ, Nga… đều tăng. Đây là lượng khách có thể bù đắp đi sự thiếu hụt của khách du lịch Trung Quốc, Hàn Quốc. Hơn nữa, đây là lượng khách có khả năng chi tiêu tốt, đóng góp cho nền du lịch” – Phó Tổng thư ký Hiệp hội BĐS Việt Nam Nguyên Văn Đính cho hay.
Đồng quan điểm, ông Mauro Gasparotti cho rằng, Việt Nam hiện đang có tỷ trọng lớn về nguồn khách nội địa (chiếm khoảng 82,5% tổng lượt khách trong năm 2019) cũng như các nguồn khách từ thị trường Trung Quốc và Hàn Quốc. Đây được xem là những yếu tố có lợi cho Việt Nam bởi sau đại dịch, đây có thể sẽ là những nhóm khách đầu tiên phục hồi trở lại.
“Chính vì vậy, chúng ta cần giữ thái độ lạc quan cùng với tầm nhìn dài hạn trong thời gian tới. Ở một góc nhìn khác, đầu tư vào các dự án thương mại và du lịch, đặc biệt là Khách sạn và Khu nghỉ dưỡng thường mang tầm nhìn dài hạn.
Do vậy, có thể nói những khó khăn hay biến động thị trường trong ngắn hạn chính là những thử thách giúp sàng lọc, tìm kiếm nhà đầu tư thật sự có năng lực quản trị và tài chính cho thị trường bất động sản nghỉ dưỡng Việt Nam, vốn là thị trường được đánh giá có nhiều tiềm năng và thu hút được sự quan tâm cả trong và ngoài nước” – ông Mauro Gasparotti nhận định.

A weird looking racing van.

This right-wing nationalist party is called "Patriotic Party" (Aikoku-to) and while I've heard they have a lot of influence via yakuza in the government, I don't know that these guys are really convincing anyone. You can't say they don't try, though. They drive these vans (and sometimes big army jeeps!) around shouting slogans like "restore the emperor to power" through their megaphones.
I like that this one is parked not too far down the road from me, in front of a totally normal-looking apartment building. Maybe a nationalist lives there?
