Komitake Shrine at the Kawaguchiko fifth station.
Komitake is a historical mountain which used to exist before Mt.Fuji was born. Komitake and Ko-Fuji (Old Fuji) became a base and erupted repeatedly, which formed the present figure of Mt.Fuji. In 937 (Shohei 7), Fujisan Komitake Sharing was located and constructed on the peak of Komitake Mountain of the sacred place of the mountain faith.
From the old days, many people worshipping and people practicing asceticism have been visiting this shrine. Every year, in the early morning of July 1st, Kaizansai festival is held to celebrate opening Mt.Fuji. The area around the 5 station is called the garden of long-nosed goblin Tengu, and there is a legend that Tengu had been ruling the area. Tengu’s name was Komitake-Tarobo-Shoshin, and it is worshiped at the Fujisan Komitake Shrine as a god of opening road. Many treasures related to the Tengu are preserved in the shrine, one of which is a big ax of 375kg (100 kan) which is placed in the shrine's close. From the old days, this place is crowded with brawny people trying to lift it up.

Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji (富士山 Fuji-san) is the highest mountain in Japan located on Honshu Island at 3,776.24 m (12,389 ft). An active stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707–08, Mount Fuji lies about 100 kilometres (62 mi) south-west of Tokyo, and can be seen from there on a clear day. Mount Fuji's exceptionally symmetrical cone, which is snow-capped several months a year, is a well-known symbol of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and photographs, as well as visited by sightseers and climbers. It is one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains" (三霊山 Sanreizan) along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku.
Approximately 300,000 people climbed Mount Fuji in 2009. Buses to the fifth station start running on 1 July. Most Japanese climb the mountain at night in order to be in a position at or near the summit when the sun rises. The morning sunshine is called 御来光 "Goraikō" which means "honourable arrival of light".

James Bernard L, my grandfather (dad's dad). Born 2/18/1922 in Fairmont, WV. Died 12/18/2001 in Arlington, VA.

James Bernard L was a long-serving member of the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, and its Association. He joined the National Guard in 1936, then the 16th Infantry in 1940 at Fort Jay, New York. In the Allied landings in Africa in November, 1942, he was the Regimental Sergeant Major. He fought in Sicily and later, in the Normandy Invasion, as a Warrant Officer under General Omar Bradley. He continued with the 16th Infantry through France, the Battle of the Bulge, Germany and Czechoslovakia, earning a Silver Star.
After the war, he served at Fort Knox, Kentucky, the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon, Fort Shafter, Hawaii, Ft. Sam Houstin in San Antonio, TX, and the Adjutant Generals School, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, where he retired in 1960 as a CWO-4.
James then became one of the strongest supporters of the Regimental Association, writing many articles and booklets produced by the Association, and was a contributor, editor, and participant in the production of the recent volume of the regiment's history, "Blood and Sacrifice."
James was also an avid flag collector and member of NAVA, and a longtime philatelist.
Ronnie L, born Maria Clara Rechen, is Clint's grandmother (dad's mom). Born 10/25/1918 in Lvov, Poland. Died 11/13/2003 in Alexandria, VA.
Daughter of Jozefa and Jacob, she was the only survivor of the holocaust in her family. She was liberated from a work camp by Clint's grandfather (James Bernard L.), who stormed Normandy 20 minutes into the D-Day invasion.

Manifestations des 10 et 11 janvier 2015 en France
Les manifestations des 10 et 11 janvier 2015, également appelées « marches républicaines », sont un ensemble de rassemblements qui se déroulent sur le territoire français en réaction aux attentats djihadistes des 7, 8 et 9 janvier 2015 - dont les principaux sont l'attaque contre la rédaction du journal Charlie Hebdo et la prise d'otages dans un supermarché qui ont coûté la vie à dix-sept personnes. À la suite du retentissement considérable de ces événements, aussi bien en France qu'à l'étranger, quarante-quatre dirigeants de divers pays participent au cortège parisien du 11 janvier 2015, tandis qu'au moins 265 villes françaises dénombrent au moins 1 000 personnes à leur manifestation, selon un décompte du journal Le Monde.
Le nombre total de manifestants à travers la France est estimé par le ministère de l'Intérieur à plus de 4 millions sur les deux journées, dont plus de 1,5 million le dimanche 11 janvier à Paris, ce qui en fait le plus important rassemblement de l'histoire moderne du pays. Parallèlement, de nombreuses manifestations et rassemblements de soutien ont eu lieu dans le monde, avec en particulier 30 000 manifestants à Montréal.

A well used BMW 3-Series from Romania, this example coming from Bacău County in Eastern Romania. This was one of two cars i saw parked in the same car park from Bacău County. The front plate was the older of the two, having the Romanian flag (albeit very faded, as was the whole plate), and the plate holder came from an Audi dealership in Bacău itself.
