Used at the Interstate 405 / Interstate 605 Interchange. CalTrans is currently working on HOV lane connectors between the two highways. The project began in either 2010 or 2011; and is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2014, or Winter or Spring 2015.

For my DVD project, I decided to use one of my favorite movies, Forrest Gump. The original cover is on the far left. I used this movie because it is so funny and tons of fun to watch. The director of photography for this movie is Don Burgess. Don also worked on Spiderman in 2002 and Cast Away in 2000. The director of this movie is Robert Zemeckis. Robert Zemickis also worked on the movies, Romancing the Stone, 1941, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Back to the Future, and Contact.
For my recreation of the original cover, the photo in the middle, I used my dad as my model. I had him sit on a bench with a briefcase at his feet. I had him looking off into the distance just like Tom Hanks is on the cover. I edited this photo by editing my dad in Camera Raw. I added exposure, contrast, and clarity. In Photoshop I used color balance, levels, and curves. I then used the quick select tool to drag my dad onto a plain white page. I then added the words by using Times New Roman Font. I then added a drop shadow.
For the creation of my new cover, the picture on the very right, I used my brother as a model. I had him run diagonally to me as I sat on the grass to take this picture of him running. I got this idea because in the movie Forrest is always running. As a kid, Forrest was told he would never be able to run, he wanted to prove them wrong and kept running and never stopped. I used the quote from the movie, “Run Forrest Run!” because it is one of the most famous quotes from the movie. Also, I feel like it is motivation to help him prove his bullies wrong. By people yelling “Run Forest Run!” he had the support to keep going and never give up. In Camera Raw, I added contrast, whites, blacks, clarity, and vibrancy. I subtracted exposure, highlights, and shadows. In Photoshop, I added color balance, levels, and curves. I then added a drop shadow.
I enjoyed this project a lot. It was totally different from what I am normally used to doing. I had to make sure that my recreation was almost exactly the same as the original cover. I had to tell my dad how to sit and where to look. Also, I had to pay attention to lighting and shadows. I need to make sure they were exactly alike. I had more fun though creating my own cover for the movie. Thinking out of the box was lots of fun. I told my brother to basically run around and just enjoy being outside and have fun. I liked this project so much because I had to be creative and think about a movie that I love so much.

With the use of heavier building materials, the need to support the farm houses from the inside also disappeared. In many cases the trusses made way for load-bearing walls; only in large barns did the traditional wooden frame remain in vogue until the mid-twentieth century. Finally, there was also no need to use the farm in the longitudinal direction. From the end of the Middle Ages, there was a tendency to open up smaller buildings from the side walls, for example with windows and extra doors. This resulted in new farm types with a transverse division, such as the Brabant, Drenthe and Zeeland farm.

Brod used to be called "Bosanski Brod / Srpski Brod", but now they went for just "Brod" - old names are still visible on the sign. It was called "Bosanski Brod" to distinguish it from the other half of the city across the river, in Croatia - Slavonski Brod.

Chicken and eggs on brown rice for breakfast. A little different in execution of the dish and ingredients because I wanted to use up some kurano kaori miso that I still have in my fridge....from 3 years ago (incidentally, the expiration date was 2 years ago but this stuff still looks/smells good with not a sign of mold). The idea of using miso comes from the Magicfrypan blog but again, they don't list ingredient amounts which makes it one big guessing game.
Ingredients for the sauce here is for 10 ounces of chicken:
1 tablespoon kurano kaori miso
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons mirin
1/2 cup water
1/2 yellow onion, sliced into rounds
1/2 cup green onion, cut into 2-inch segments
2 slightly beaten eggs
finely sliced green shiso for garnish
Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces. Combine miso, sugar, soy sauce, mirin and water (I just used a hand held blender). Take 1/4 cup of this mixture and marinade the chicken in it for atleast 30 minutes.
After the marinating period, fry chicken in a little bit of oil until slightly caramelized and crispy. Add the round onions, continue to cook until softened and caramelized. Add the green onions and cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
Pour in the remaining miso mixture and cook for another few minutes until liquid is almost, but not quite, absorbed. Now add the beaten eggs, cover the pan and lower the heat. Check in about 2-3 minutes to see if the egg has partially set. At this point I've read that the dish is then slid onto hot rice and the eggs will continue to cook, but I prefer to just continue the job in the pan until the egg is perfectly done. Garnish with shiso or japanese parsley (or more green onions lacking either of the two).
