Built/Founded: 1856

Architect: John A. Roebling

Governing body: State

Added to NRHP: May 15, 1975

NRHP Reference#: 75000786[1]

The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge spans the Ohio River between Cincinnati, Ohio and Covington, Kentucky. When the first pedestrians crossed on December 1, 1866, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at 1,057 feet (322 m) main span. Today, many pedestrians use the bridge to get between the arenas in Cincinnati (Paul Brown Stadium, Great American Ball Park, and U.S. Bank Arena) and the hotels, bars, restaurants, and parking lots in Northern Kentucky. The bar and restaurant district at the foot of the bridge on the Kentucky side is known as Roebling Point.

Ramps were constructed leading directly from the bridge to the Dixie Terminal building used for street cars. These provided Covington trolleys "with a grade separated route to the center of downtown, and the terminal building was originally intended to connect, via underground pedestrian passages, with the never-built Fountain Square Station of the infamous Cincinnati subway."[2] When street car service ceased in the 1950s the terminal was converted to use as a diesel bus terminal. The ramps were removed in 1998 when it ceased being used as a bus terminal. [3]

Last week I took some portrait shots for a ballroom company in Tulsa. This is one of the the poses they setup, but it seems more like a magic trick to me rather then a dance pose, enjoy

Usei:

Gostei mto do resultado!

Acho que ficou too much, mesmo pra mim uyahuahauh

Beijos!

Using my Tripod and wideangle lens to get this show of the town entry of Pichl. I light painted the sign with my flashlight for a few seconds.

There is a car running through the street in the background and the smoke of the nearby incineration facility is visible.

Field-telephone used by British and Commonwealth forces during WWII. The original 'D' was developed during WWI. Signalling was achieved with a buzzer / chopper system, rather like a 'Fullerphone' telegraph set, offering virtually secure signalling over long distances.

A magneto bell is provided on the instrument, but there is no magneto ringing from the telephone. The standard two-bobbin polarised bell-motor can be seen, but the gong is missing. It should sit on the top.

Cannas look like lilies but are not. They are native to the Americas but are grown world-wide now--including in pots on our back terrace here in CH. Besides producing beautiful flowers, every part of the plant is useful in some way. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canna_(plant)#Uses

Week 40 Challenge was to use another photo you like from the group as an inspiration and imitate the phoot. I didn't have to look back in the group far and found my inspiration from last week's photos, which is in the comments below. Both dogs are even wearing a silver bone shaped name tag :)

Elf Fantasy Fair Haarzuilen 2012 sunday 22 april 2012

Every year in April since 2001, the substantial number of 25,000 people from all over Europe come to the largest Fantasy event on the European continent: the Elf Fantasy Fair.

Two-third of the visitors have transformed into orcs, magicians, dragons, knights, vampires, elves, unicorns, gothic lolita, manga comic hero or a combination of these. Every year the costumes are getting more resourceful and more artistic. In the midst of the budding nature of the Castle park which belongs to the largest castle of the Netherlands – Kasteel de Haar fantasy lovers indulge themselves in all that is offered and coveted: medieval music, dancing, lectures, theatre plays, and parades.
