Who hasn't heard of them: koalas! One of the most famous inhabitants of Australia.

I shot this photo in Cleland Wildlife Park in Adelaide.

Koalas spend most of the day sleeping. More than 20 hours a day. Often you'll find them sleeping in a tree alone. But sometimes they like to cuddle up, like in this photo.

The shrine and its colored autumn leaves were lit up at night.

Pompeii is a little more ominous and mysterious in real life, than I remember Frankie Howerd depicting it. ;-)

I spent much of the day modding an old Holga 120SF. It now has a bulb mode (well, ok, it now has nothing but a bulb mode), a cable release and a tripod mount. It also has a detachable (via the magic of tape) 6x closeup lens, purloined from a magnifying glass. Early tests suggest a focus sweet spot at about 4 inches and a terrifyingly tiny depth of field. This could be fun.

Doing the Barbie thing

A Likay artist puts on his make-up backstage at a temple festival in Samut Sakhon, Thailand. Likay is known for its outlandish colourful costumes. Long the main feature of rural temple festivals across Thailand, the popularity of the theatre form appears to be in decline - but nevertheless attracts a small group of diehard fans.

Okay the thing is with my #2 Gil is that his joints were unusually stiff and really emphasised how limited the joints were, especially since I intended for this Gil to wear kimono and kneel a bunch. I expected for a single joint to be limited but the fact is, Gil couldn’t even bend his knees far enough to kneel let alone make it look natural enough.

So I took a knife to the behind of his legs and carved out crescent moon shapes so more of his knee joint was exposed and his leg could bend enough for him to kneel naturally. Unfortunately, his legs are hollow plastic so if you carve out as much as I did, it WILL leave really unsightly holes. But since it’s behind his leg I don’t mind, plus he’s most likely to be wearing yukata to expose the knees.

This actually solved his knee joints being stiff so I carved out some plastic behind his ankle to be able to be en pointe and it’s easier to pose him.

I also took out some plastic from his elbows so he could touch his face better but I didn’t far enough as I wanted because his arms are also hollow plastic and I could see the plastic be really thin, which is sad since normal MH boy arms are hard vinyl.

However, I’m happy my Gil #2 can pose better now. My poor #1 Gil can’t keep up with him.

A nice looking UP ACe trails at the rear of a eastbound stack train, passing the new control point in Wheaton, IL. UP can't seem to make up their mind on what to name this, they've already changed the name three times! First it was Wheaton, then College, and now it's University! We'll see how many weeks until UP changes the name again! Haha

Just wanted to post an Up Close Photo

I must confess that this recent trip in the Chimanimanis was probably one of the most physically challenging that I have done. All my "no-*£$%^&-way" sensors were maxed out on a few occasions. Boy was I confronted with the fact that I have not been 36 years for quite some time now :-)

This bodystyle wasn't available in Spain, hence I was eager to spot one on this trip. Judging by its age, it's a pretty late French-built example. Newer models were assembled in Argentina.
